Fall from Heaven Duel League: The Fall From Heaven 10th Anniversary Celebration

The folks at RB are much more responsive than civ fanatics for PMs. Perhaps that's because instant email notification works here.

We'll continue to be patient. Of course we have only two empty slots for our minimum of 8. If both Tasunke and Dreylin change their maybe to yes then we can start preparations.

Well IMO the preparation discussions are likely to take a while - unless imposed by executive fiat, which is a totally valid approach.

Upgrade me to a "yes", I think that I can take this on and I'd certainly be interested to do so. I have to say that I had assumed it would be more of an "everyone plays everyone else" type league rather than an elimination competition, but maybe we do it like a Magic draft pod - 3 rounds, pairings based on wins; then single elimination seeded based on standings in the "league"?

Civ selection seems to be the most important aspect to resolve; I'm comfortable with Bob's memory of previous rules (once someone select a particular Leader for one round, they can't select them again), though I assume that would mean you can have duplicate civ/leaders in a particular match.

Is there any reason these wouldn't be Always War?

Round robin would let us play some games in parallel instead of needing them all in order. I wouldn't want to do more than 2-3 simultaneously, but that would lift the three month time limit.

I wouldn't mind a round robin type. The issue is ability to play multiple simultaneous games. If we could play 4 simultaneous games, then we could seed the round robin results into a 4 team double elimination tournament. If the players cannot play 4 at a time then we could round robin to seed into a 4 person single elimination tournament.

Another option is that we don't require round robin to play every single player. Perhaps only 3 other players will be faced in the round robin round. The top 4 scores will be seeded to a single or double elimination round with any ties having a tiebreaker game to determine who moves on.

I'm in. I probably won't win (I'm not very experienced with FFH2), but it sounds good to me. Provided I'm still available then- is the tournament STARTING on May 16th, or are we trying to get it done by then? (if the former, I very well might be shipping off to Marine Corps training before it's even very far in- depending on whether I get accepted into the program...)

I'm all for a Round Robin style tournament- although I'd prefer if every player face each other. With the other option (round robin brackets in order to determine who gets to the final rounds), if the 3 best players face each other then the result could be determined by luck (as it theoretically always would be with 3 equally-skilled players, and often would be with 3 highly competitive players), and the best player has a significantly worse chance of actually winning the tournament... (if the best players end up spread throughout the brackets, this will be a non-issue: but this isn't guaranteed to happen, and I personally don't want us to have to rank players by expected results before this begins...)

So, Round Robin among *all* the players to determine who makes it to the final round, which should be a 1v1 single elimination between the top 2 players, sounds good to me...

The intention is to finish by May 16th of Next Year ( May 16th 2016). This is enough players. I will go request a subforum from the admins (ideally one with sub sub forums as well)

I agree with you that ideally the round robin would allow a game with everyone, but I fear the time commitment required. At any rate I will propose a vote with options as we get more feedback.

Alright, I'm in as well then.

I can't. Even three at a time is pushing it, given the other games I'm in. But I still think that can be fast enough to make this work.

Personally, I think I'm in favor of 6. This seems to allow us all to get a good amount of games in while letting the fun of having a finale!

Please let me know your votes and thoughts.
