New EitB PBEM (high PYFT)

Agreed, I think it's more interesting if you can use the civ's mana, plus one less thing to remember rules-wise.

Agreed as well regarding the adept being able to use own mana once it gains some xp.
I have been checking some scripts, but I'm not really sure what we should use. Here are 3 scripts that I think I like the best (and don't take that much editing for Bob): - Hub: Each player start from their own corner and there's a shared land in the middle, the Hub. Each civ's starting position has only one way (by land) to the Hub. The script usually makes the middle crappy but if we beg Bob to edit it slightly to make the land really lush there or something similar it could be doable. With Toroidial wrapping potential naval invasions could be possible as well. The script usually adds some islands here and there too. - Pangaeae: Huge one landmass. Maybe a bit boring but nevertheless better than Rainforest IMO. - Donut: Well, the name says it all pretty much... I personally would probably want to do Hub. Thoughts? EDIT: Now I do remember that at least one previous FFH/EitB game was played with Hub. That game had heavily edited middle though, and I'm not thinking we need to go that far here.
Still no preference from me on mapscript. Count my vote on the side that makes a majority, or that makes Bob happy.

I could live with any of the maps Aurorarcher named; hub and donut are a little artificial for my taste, but so is Mirrorland, which I think was mentioned early as a low-effort alternative.
I've always liked Tectonics as a script; it tends to produce big swaths of marginal territory, but, as I mentioned above, I see that as a good barb spawning ground. I used to have a modified Tectonics script that produced a more consistent amount of land and a few more rivers than the default script (I found the 30% water setting could produce anything from 15-70% water in the default script). Torusland also produces interesting maps, without the "explore in one direction, map in every direction" problem of mirroring.
Dont have much input about map.
Best play time is "Euro evening", say around CET 21.00. Zulu 20.00
Played: FFH PBEM XXVI (Rhoanna) FFH PBEM XXV (Shekinah) FFH PBEM XXX (Flauros) Pitboss 11 (Kublai Rome)
Playing:Pitboss 18 (Ghengis Portugal) PBEM 60 - AI start (Napoleon Inca)
I could add Torusland to my liking, the map is simply awesome. Same with Tectonics.
I'd still like to hear what Jale has to say before I decide on my own as it seems that most people don't have any preferences with the map.
Oh, sorry, no real map preference. Torusland is pretty cool though. Wouldn't mind Bob giving us a bit of a surprise.
Just compile a list of agreed-upon settings (including map script, or "just do whatever that isn't rainforest" if that's the consensus) and let me know.
I intend to give you all pics of your starts before you select leaders & your spell, unless you prefer otherwise.
Okay, here you go Bob:
Map: Torusland/Standard with the following map settings: ![]() Mod: EitB v12 Game Speed: Quick. Map size: Standard, around 200 land tiles per player. Difficulty: Immortal Barbarians: Raging Barbarians. Orthus/Acheron: Off. Huts: Off Lairs: Off Start Era: Thaw (i.e. the first one) Wildlands: Off Living World: On Diplomacy: AI only. All Unique Features: Off Advanced Start- Off. Anything else you need to know? No need to do much editing with the map (unless you want to). Just make sure that none starts in a tiny corner or at the end of a small peninsula. Those are two things that come to my mind which the script sometimes can do. And yes, giving pics before we select our leaders would be cool. Also here's the turn order (1st player TBD): 1) DaveV, 10:00-12:00, 17:00-18:00, 23:00-2:00, GMT time 2) Mardoc, 23:00-04:00, sometimes 12:00-13:30, GMT time 3) jalepeno, 01:00-05:00 weekdays, 00:00-04:00 weekends, GMT time 4) Aurorarcher, 18:00-21:00, also 9:00-12:00, GMT time 5) Molach, 18:00-21:00, GMT time Can you RNG the actual order as well, Bob? |
