In that case, I agree with Dave's top 3 picks. In that order.
I was thinking the same, myself.

For the fourth, there's:

TELESCOPE - the only way to see Charon
PAN - also from Greek mythology
AGENT - he's an agent, i.e. servant, of Hades/the Underworld
DWARF - Pluto has been demoted to a "dwarf" planet

I'm not so keen on the others.
There are too many generic mythical words: ANGEL, ATLANTIS, WITCH, etc.
It's possible Charon wears a CLOAK, but that's also generic.
I'd probably go with TELESCOPE, because it's safest. (Name a moon, and we're sure to guess all astronomy-related words.)

My order pre-spoilers was Moon, Dwarf, Telescope. I was only considering the astronomical definition.

IF Charon was the ferryman then Row works great too. And if the Copper in eyes thing applies to that myth then I guess I'd cut out Telescope since it's more generic for any moon than dwarf. IMHO Pluto as a dwarf planet is pretty well known because of all the 'is it or isn't it' memes.

I didn't know about the copper in the eyes, but I knew you had to pay the ferrymen, and copper coins seemed to fit.
Either way, I'm happy with ROW and COPPER next.

But I still think TELESCOPE is a safer bet than DWARF.
It's obvious why Charon was clued instead of any old moon. It's to make the mythological connection. So I wouldn't pick DWARF on that basis. If anything, DWARF applies more to Pluto than to Charon - Charon the moon is relatively big, almost as big as Pluto, and Charon the ferryman wasn't short as far as I know - which makes DWARF a second-order clue. And it's possible pjabrony overlooked the DWARF connection, whereas TELESCOPE has to be gray at worst.

Azoth - that assumes though that the mythical being and not merely the planet is what's being clued. IMHO that isn't a given. That said, Row is now first for both of you...

The copper thing is a vague recollection, but fits. As Azoth mentioned, you have to pay the ferryman for the ride.

I like telescope better than dwarf; I'd be happy with Telescope and Copper in either order.
