[SPOILERS] Rowain and the USA

Turn 17:

I'm greeted with a contact message. I met Japan but not where I thought I would but in the far west. Checking the scores shows that Japan has very high science and culture:



Checking the Diploscreens shows Kaiser has contact with 1 unknown civ (but no contact yet with suboptimal) and both Kaiser and suboptimal make 5gpt



Checking with Hattusa shows that it is not Kasier who has contact with them but who might it be.

Score reveals:



So I have Ichabod's England in the south/southeast. Bacchus should be in the west near Kaiser. Which means suboptimal is our man in the middle.

Turn 018:

Japan and Arabia have now met. I have not mentioned it but suboptimal's Pantheon is Sacred Path (Holy Sites +1 faith for adjacent rainforests)

Turn21:

Not many changes. Kaiser and Ichabod are leading the science-race with 3 techs while everybody else has 2. Kaiser also leads in culture. He also produced a slinger during the last turn.

In 2 turns I get to my pantheon ( Ichabod and Kaiser most likely too if they don't have them already)

Bacchus joins the 3-tech club and also increased his mil-power. Ichabod now has 3 pop.

Turn 23

I can choos my Pantheon. And I'm the third in game to do so. Besides suboptimal with Sacred Path someone - going by the ftp I have observed either Kaiser who comes before me in turnorder or Ichabod - has chosen God of the Forge (+25% production for Ancien and classical Units) . So clearly someone is preparing for war. Fitting to Kaiser is the fact that he has now a Mil strength of 65 => gained a warrior since last turn.

As I have 3 floodplains around my capital and 2 more in easy reach I chose OLORAM.

Turn 25 played

The most disturbing news: Ichabod completed his 4th tech and a settler. Since I'm most likely his nearest neighbour I don't like that.

Chopped the final Hammers into a Settler and the overflow into another Worker. If nobody concealed the building of a settler with a growth I'm the 2nd one with a Settler out.

Back to size 2 but in 2 turns I'm size 3 again. Need ~6 turn till the wanted position.

Sent a DoF to Japan. Main-reason: to put some paranoia into suboptimal as I believe he is between the 2 of us. Don't know if Kaiser will accept.

Still no 2nd city for Ichabod I hope he doesn't come up north.

So far I have not decided if I should build buy some more warriors and go attack Arabia or Hattusa or buy Monument/tiles/trader.

Turn 29

My old PC joined the ancestors so this turn waas played on a brand new  one. Alas this means that several of my old screenshots are now gone.

Kaiser did accept my DoF (why I only got the message this turn and not last turn is one of Civ6-mysteries). I also positioned 2 warriors threatening close to Arabia's capital to prevent suboptimal from sending a settler out to the east.  





Also visible is Kaiser's damaged Warrior.

Turn 30

A new contact with India. And now I know that what I thought was a red border in the south is indeed a purple one. I'm Indias first contact. And he settled a 2nd city to the west of his capital. That suits me fine as long as he doesn't come north we won't get problems.

Ichabod also settled his 2nd city. He is the one Japan has contact with.

Japan and Arabia signed a DoF and I declined a DoF -offer from Arabia. I need to stay flexible so I can interrupt him settling to the east.

Going by the gold Japan either bought a slinger or some tiles. Will see if his MP changes next turn.

I clearly need more Units/workers/Settlers and a Trader. Not to mention a good plan how to handle those Elephants Bacchus might sent north once he gets them.

PS: Thanks to signing the DoF with Japan I now that Japan has Divine Spark as his believe. (Fits with his fast build Districts).

After some thinking about it I declared war on suboptimal. The warrior guarding his settler is severely damaged . OTOH I guess one of my warrior will die thanks to the Barbs running around Arabia's capital.

I will settle my city nr 2 next turn and buy a warrior there. Indias scout is running around next to my capital.


Sorry suboptimal but we are quite close and there aren't that many good sites between us. Had you moved the settler to the west we would still be at peace.
