That makes sense, and I'm definitely planning to finish it as soon as I safely can. Anyway, I think what confused me was that I hooked the horse and then built a Heavy Chariot. I was under the impression the horse allowed me to build the Chariot, but from looking it up, Chariots are apparently resourceless. So yeah, I see the value of an encampment now for sure.

I did manage to finish Stonehenge and found a religion. I had no idea what beliefs to select. Divine Inspiration seemed decent because I figure in a 2 player game I'll have less wonder competition, so maybe that'll be more useful. Stupa I picked mainly because I'm crunched for luxuries, and I expect that to be an issue for awhile.

Divine Inspiration is okay for faith generation, but many wonders are pretty bad in this game and +4 faith isn't going to save them. Zen Meditation (+1 amenity in cities with 2 districts) or Work Ethic (+1% production per follower in the city) would have been good. Choral Music is also very good but devalued for Greece because of Acropolises.

Stupas are good but you've picked them prematurely. To build one you have to have a Temple, which are on a late-Classical civic. By the time you can start building them you'd be able to get an apostle to pick up the belief anyhow.

Spurred by Sullla's comment in another thread, this game did end about 12 days ago. I can do a postmortem with some screenshots soon, but essentially, from scooters last overview picture I had 2 swords and an Archer along with that spearhead I sent straight for his capital, to pressure him while I expanded behind. But my force surprised him and was just barely enough to take the capital and win the game.

I was meaning to post a couple screenshots from the end too, but I kept forgetting. Anyway, I'm not sure if I could have saved my capital or not. I may have been able to, and I was confused thinking units inside the city would do some defending. Had I known that, I think I could have clogged up the path to the capital a little better until reinforcements arrived.
