LK tries SMAC again

I continue to get reminded about more subtle stuff in the game.  The very thin line land connecting two land-masses also allows ships to go between the two water tiles.  

I get the warning that my city count is getting high, and will come with negative effects.

   

This is the new island to settle.  You can see Sparta to the south.  My only competition is the University to the north.

WOW - I knew RL had gotten crazy recently.  Didn't realize how long since I last played until I saw the post date.

I lost my first wonder race for the Virtual World.  Sadly, it went to the only competition left of the university.  I get maritime control as a consolation prize.  

Marian contacts me in 2,228.  I get her map.  Her new land is terrible.  She declares a vendetta of me because I am running police state.

I complete Environmental Economics.  This is the last of the techs needed to lift tile limits.  This really helps my position.  Those boreholes I've put down will finally operate at max efficiency.  

You can see where my total population continues to gain versus the rest of the world.

   

I learn another rule about order of play.  I would up losing a building due to spending all my cash to rush something.  I went cash positive for the round, but somewhere I went short.  You need to always leave a bit of cash around for safety margin.  

I pretty much have covered the new island.

   

I am starting to heavily plant forest.  I have some tree farms coming online.  Hybrid forests are available to build.  

I deal with Miriam's vendetta.  I land, and take one of her cities.  She then surrenders, and one more opponent dealt with.

Zarkhov declares vendetta in 2,256. I start recalling my spare mind worms from Mariam's former land to the land closest to him. My first air unit prototype has started.

I complete Ascetic Virtues in 2,261.

My first plane arrives to the front, and sinks an enemy ship.

I complete Monopole Magnets in 2,267.

This one is already all but done. I've started running the turns faster with not doing a full city review every turn.

As of 2,281 I own a university city. They still won't surrender, so a more cities will have to fall.

I completed the Neural Amplifier.

I suffer a setback when the university steals a city back via mind-probe. I lost a big chunk of my offensive forces at they also got the large stack just outside the city. It will be 8 to 10 turns before I am ready to go back on the offensive. Most of my early, independent mind worms are gone.

I complete the Hunter-Seeker Algorithm in 2,289. The above won't happen again.

The loss of the city way upped how much University wants for peace. I want nothing less than his surrender, so I know there are a lot of turns left in the war.

I complete the Longevity Vaccine in 2,296.
I tried my luck for being supreme leader, but I don't have enough. Hopefully surrender from the University will solve this.
I return the favor, and mind control Biblotyek back.
I get a funny interlude. The University captured my first built mind worm. I then killed it. The interlude tells me I want revenge on the Gians. I want to see my own capitol burnt to the ground in revenge.

Burn thyself!  Oh the pain, AAIEEEEE!!!

I capture the University capitol in 2,300.  I gain the Virtual World and Supercollider.  The bonus research from this city is a joke.  
I complete the Cyborg Factory in 2,302.
I continue to chew up the University.  I've captured most of their cities.  They are still demanding I give them a tech for peace.  My hope is all of the new cities will give me enough to claim governor, and wrap the game up.
The University finally surrenders in 2,305.
The Cloning Vats completes in 2,306.
The Pholus Mutagen completes in 2,310.
The Universal Translator completes in 2,312.
The Xenoempathy Zone completes in 2,314.

I call for planetary governor, and get the votes this time.  Between Cloning Vats and taking out the University, I had more than enough pop.  This game was such a lopsided blowout that I just wanted to end it.

While the Morgan game was a loss, it was good to let me recall how to play the game again.
