Hey, TBS, be careful that, once you finish Iron Working, if you have an iron source already (only one is enough, even if building swords requires two), you'll lose the ability to build warriors and all hammers already invested into unfinished warriors (if they can't auto-upgrade to swords, as in, you don't have 2 iron sources or 1 source and a Camp on the city). The same thing happens with all unit upgrades that require resources.
Also, scouts don't get percentage bonuses when built, IIRC.

Thanks guys.
Multipliers not applying to overflow was what I was missing. Still not a big fan of the implementation but at least it's not game breaking.
And thanks for the heads up Ichabod, I think I remember knowing that but I had forgotten. Since I might need to emergency complete Iron Working if Rome attacks I'll have to keep the builds flexible. You're right about the scouts too of course.

Er, it looks like Greece deliberately left the GG to Rome - they swapped out of the GG policy card. ![crazyeye crazyeye](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/crazyeye.gif) GG led promoted Legions will be very hard for the next neighbour to stop(including me). Might be time to consider Rome a runaway.

My thoughts exactly!
Sent a DoF and a 1g for 1g deal to England and Greece. Maybe see what sort of co-operation we can drum up.
The defender does have a number of advantages, choosing defensive terrain and fortifying on it gets you +8-11 CS that matches Rome's Legion+GG bonus(+9). His units will be promoted for a +7 CS but hopefully the defender will have a few of those from the barbs also(I have 2). You should probably have better support boni as the defender too, since your logistics are easier(+2CS maybe?). That's before talking about cities or encampents.
If he doesn't come for me I guess I'll try to hit Neptune. I'm a bit worried that England doesn't border Rome and can build away while the rest of us try to contain him. I guess I should offer open borders too.

On further reflection, that's probably a pretty easy chokepoint for him to defend. I'll need to try estimate how an attack would go, setting up a sim is unfortunately a no-go in civ 6. I can get 3 archers and 3 swords(maybe with a small gold loan from england) ready anyway, so we'll keep him honest at least. Not sure how well we'd do against fortified legions. I guess with my encampment in place I might force him to defend at the city and then I need to figure out how hard they are to crack. He'll surely get to Bastions himself.
Options for improving my chances:
-The seas - seems like quite a decent idea to neutralise the effectiveness of the chokepoint, putting a harbour in Moscow.
-Catapults at Engineering - how good are these at taking cities?
-Crossbows - similar question to the catapults.
-Knights - Might as well tech these at some stage as they're on the route to Cossacks,
For the moment I think we continue with economic builds, bar the 6 unit raiding force mentioned above. If he has the defenses for that then throwing more units at the problem without tech is not very cost effective I think. So I'll probably continue with the Colosseum.
My trade route finished btw and I'm delaying it by 2t waiting to settle the Tsingy city. That's got a lot of raw yields but not a lot of food, which is something the trade route can deal with. Seems worth the delay. I'll also have the Lavra completed in Voro, so I can send the route down there, completing the most important road in my empire. I think I might get an extra 1gpt for going through the trading post in the capital too, but I'm not sure. I guess we'll find out!

I am pretty sure they are not.

Not directly on the route, but the Eureka requires a Knight to kill a unit and more than repays the cost of the Knights tech.

Settled my last city for a while Novogrod:
Base tile is 2f/2h/1c/1s/1f and working the same tile -1f. Combined with some other little things slotting into place it really kicked up my science and culture rates. Arguably I should have settled the city earlier but I felt snowballing food-hammers was more important in the early game and the city needs a trade route to grow.
On that topic btw, this - http://civilization.wikia.com/wiki/Trading_Post_(Civ6) seems to imply that I'd get 1g on my trade route from Novo to Voro due to the trading post in the capital but it doesn't seem to be showing up in game. I think I half-remembered this from somewhere though, I've been treating it as a bonus instead of sure thing in my head.
There's a bit of nice micro in the above picture; Voro's Lavra was overflowed chopped to completion on the same turn Astra's Encampent is completed(the game interface is lying there, it doesn't take into account me changing tiles until I end turn). That allows me to start a discounted campus in the capital next turn. With that in mind I set it up so I wouldn't finish the builder last turn, instead getting another turn of +30% hammers and allowing me to allocate hammers to the campus a turn earlier. The hammers I gave up for this translated into food that will allow the city to grow 1 turn earlier. All these matching numbers made me feel great.
I haven't thought too much about how a land invasion of Neptune will go, but I am thinking that the some naval support is probably best. Assuming Rome also upgrades it's lands defenses then the chokepoint will likely stop an invasion. The seas allow me to throw more hammers at the problem. Though Rome is on 7 cities(3 captured) to my 6 right now, if Greece/Arabia have the terrrain to hold him off then he's not a super runaway. Still a dogpile might be necessary.

So, I finished the encampment and holy site last turn, I now have 3 districts built - 2 holy, 1 encampment, with 3 unlocked - holy, encampment, campus. However I still am not getting the discount on the campus. I think this is because I didn't complete a tech or civic last turn, so that the game didn't update that I have 3 districts completed for the discount formula. Could someone confirm if that is the case, and I should get the discount next turn by completing a tech?
