I can offer a service to aid the mapmaker. I made a script to re-roll, screenshot, and save a series of map. I used that in all the maps I've made to quickly sort through and find one with overall geography that I like in order to minimize the manual edits. (i.e. look at the minimap of the screenshots only on the first pass through and short-list a couple that look promising).
As an example for interested parties, I rolled a series of about 50 "New/Fractal/Low_Sea" maps and got the following set of screenshots (20 MB file warning): https://1drv.ms/u/s!Aj_yqOpUOS6HgYMRkICCKd91qppWIg
Scrolling through these quickly in Windows Photo Viewer with left/right arrow keys I see one with an inland sea that looked like it would be interesting, and relatively even distribution of land around it. I mentally check off where I would locate 5 civs and it looks like the spacing could work:
I see the label D22, I go find save D22 in my save archive and load it up. D22 became the basis for the PBEM5 map. I added a few land tiles (half dozen or so) in the northeast to connect the close-but-not-touching ends of the snaky continent to make it a true inland sea, and then balanced the starts.
Given a set of map settings I would be willing to roll an archive of maps for the mapmaker to chose from to jumpstart the process, without looking at any of the screenshots that are generated or loading up any of the saves.
