looks like we've got quite a bit of coast/lakes to play with. first instinct for techs are agri (obviously) then mining > BW but i haven't done any simming yet.

oh btw, i hope you like Formula 1 because the naming theme i was going to use for this game was Formula 1 drivers, starting with my favourite and fellow countryman, Daniel Ricciardo who currently races for Renault. he's had a pretty average first half of the season (as has his team mate) since departing Red Bull last year but has managed some decent finishes in the points.

Ok, thanks for playing it out. Never really watched formula 1 so the naming theme is all yours. Could you also PM me the password?

Agri is certainly the best first choice. It’ll take 5 turns to get the rice farm and then 6 for the corn or cow. So that means we have a bunch of turns for mining + BW. Need to check if corn is dry (can’t tell from pic if that’s a lake, perhaps use tile yield icons?)

so we're pretty close to borsche. let's kill him hammer

i think we should turn the scout back around now and scout our north. what do you think?

Yea, we really need to scout the north for city sites.taking Borsche’s cow in a pink dot move could be good. I suggest a quick detour to archery if we do not discover any sources of bronze. Otherwise, wheel and potttery? We really should attempt to choke borsche. 10 tiles away is too close for comfort. I’ll finish my C&D spreadsheet work today or tomorrow (I took a few demos pics, trying to reconstruct events).

I set our city to build a warrior. We should grow to size 3 and build 2 warriors, going south to harass/spy on Borsche.

My micro plan has us with 2 warriors, 2 workers, 2 settlers out by Turn 36. I wrote it out on paper and will type it up tomorrow or today evening at the earliest (Unless you're ok with looking at my handwriting). By then I think we can tech pottery to half-completion or more. Main points of improvement to my plan could be the worker movement micro and choosing between improving the cow or the corn first. I went for the cow because we get an extra hammer in producing our second worker.

Dotmap-wise, one city should go secure the cow and push aggressively to Borsche, the other should secure the fish in the back. Both cities should start working sea/fish/cottages asap. We should check for early religions diligently and see how good our oracle chances are. As a rough estimate, I am pretty confident we can get it by turn 55. That may be a bit late, however... Also, if we get copper in our capital's BFC, the micro plan will be heavily improved, perhaps allowing an earlier conversion to slavery. (in between the settlers, instead of after both of them, seeing as how I have them being built sequentially with chops lined up. Adopting slavery in between the settlers is feasible as we do not lose a turn in building the second one, but then we absolutely must whip).

unless your handwriting is exceptionally bad i'm happy to just read off that. will save time typing it up.

I'd like to scout a few more tiles to our north before i start plotting a dotmap, but the first city site you've marked seems fine.

I lost the original micro plan- but here's the sketch for the next few turns. We need to work corn for a few, then switch to spice for 1 and then the cow to exactly grow to size 3 and produce the warrior. Then we'll get either a settler or antoher worker if I recall correctly. Perhaps settler -> chopped into worker for prod bonus? Sending the warrior south to harass Borsche. Please keep updating our demos chart. I have the stats for the past few turns. Sorry for the lack of posting, I've been really busy with prep before classes and TA training. I'll have a very substantial demos post monday evening.

Not sure what the plan was for the scout but i've sent it back north to scout up there. warrior auto moved SE. let me know if anything is on auto move so i know to check for barbs or whatever it before I move anything else.

added demos to the spreadsheet. corn is being worked as per your notes.

Point taken, I'll stop using auto-move, its a bad habit. I've updated the demo spreadsheet and cranked out some results, so you can check on/work on those.

Borsche clearly went BW first, followed by one of hunting/sailing/AH. The tech only took him 6 turns, so probably hunting? He seems to be rival top in power. With BW, we should probably not use our warrior for a choke unless we see clearly that he has no bronze.

Also, does it seem like we're on the small side of big and small?

Our warrior should pop out next turn and we'll be size 3, I'll do micro tmmrw morning on the train and compare worker or settler next.
