But all it takes is someone else to beeline rifling for the ol cp to be obsolete (unless I've totally misunderstood that mechanic as well)

It's not exactly intuitive that Itchy Chicken can defend against rifles, as long as you don't know how to build them yourself.
Oh god damnit. I should have guessed that, I guess I've never seen a game through to the industrial era where I'm not reaching techs first
Should have guessed after figuring that out in Civ 5 with the Great Wall and Dynamite. I get that Will's post was a joke, but AW isn't as bad as it's built up to be (although as demonstrated in this thread, I'm as close to a non-authority as you're going to get)
Behiiiind. TBS joined Thoth at seven cities, while the rest are all at six.

Okay, I've spent a fair bit of time planning; here's how I'm going to be managing the core: -Next turn, Germanica whips the forge in for one pop and just plain ole slowbuilds the Colossus, due t80 -Augusta grows in three turns and finishes the forge the turn after; then it sinks a turn into a settler and 2-pop whips. -Fretenis gets the forge chopped, grows as it sinks a turn into a galley, then 2-pop whips, overflowing into a lighthouse. -Finally, Legio sinks a couple turns into a settler, grows to size seven on library, then 2-pop whips it for island city. Ideally, that means that in seven turns all core cities own granaries and forges, and I'm up to seven cities, with one on an island for sexy IC-TRs. Economy is humming along and I'm well on my way to Mathematics. One thing I'm *not* getting, but that someone else is, is a nice free city...

Break even at 70%, amazing!
With Colossus (and maybe TGL) (knock on wood profusely) the settlers could be gleefully spammed, maybe up to the lofty plateau? What is it on these settings anyways?
Hrm, probably 15ish? Goal is 10 by t100; ideally with a Gardens build then.
