Mardoc Wrote:Wait, looking at Rowain's tally, it looks like he died anyway? I guess we'll know once Sareln finishes writing, then. I had novice pegged as a MJW-voter before his last switch.
Yes I knew that when I switched it would be a two vote swing from Cull to MJW. I was fairly sure that my vote would clinch it unless someone from MJW switched.
“The wind went mute and the trees in the forest stood still. It was time for the last tale.”
Rowain, care to explain? Right now it seems like an accusation without any reason from someone I have already called out as possible wolf. Not really making it better if you fling accusations around without giving any reasoning.
Why should it be bad to see what our Mayor is doing? It obviously won't help us today (if he is a villager he doesn't know better then me who is a wolf) but the more days go by the more this information could prove helpful.
I also don't agree with Lewwyn. Novices vote doesn't give any information as MJW was dead for sure as Lewwyn switched from Cull to him. Both votes came in rapid succession shortly before it was over but with enough time inbetween that scooter could comment on Lewwyns vote. So novice probably could see it and react to it.
A soft rain fell throughout the day as the village debated who would be the first to hang. The travelling inquisitor was picked out of the crowd quickly. After all, he was a stranger and no-one trusted him. He made things worse for himself by stating that the village 'ought to be purged of all intelligence, since clearly they wouldn't lose all that much by doing so, and a village full of idiots was more likely to catch a stupid werewolf than a smart village was to catch a canny werewolf. That enraged enough people to seal his fate. "He doesn't care about us or this village! He'd see us all dead if he could" cried the carpenter, as the village closed in. The inquisitor was marked for death. Other candidates were put forward as the day dragged on: "Lynch the farmer, he's too lazy to even talk! We'll hardly miss him when he's gone, besides, his farmhand seems to be quite clever and should be the new mayor". "No! The new mayor should be the Vintner, his wines are the best and they show a dedication to his craft which he'll bring to leading this village in our time of peril". "The most important thing is deciding who to lynch, I don't care who's the mayor!"
At one moment, there seemed to be a glimmer of hope for MJW as villagers swung towards the farmer Cull, but his friends from around the village stayed firm in their support of lynching the inquisitor. Much better, they thought, to kill a random stranger, than to be forced to hang one of their own so early. Maybe later, if it became necessary, but why sacrifice their friend now when there was a foreigner who would do just as well? In the end, it was the last minute switch of the carpenter back to MJW which doomed him. As his fate became clearer and clearer, the inquistor began to rail against the village. They were making a mistake, they would all be damned. There was no way he could be infected, he was human, did they have no compassion? Could they not see it? Those who were infected were against him, clearly that would be the only reason they would vote to hang him, the only chance this village had at salvation! The village ignored him, and as the noose was sinched firmly around his neck, the inquistor went silent. He saw that the village would not be swayed, and stood proud as the trap-door dropped from under his feet.
The rain fell softly, and what was the inquisitor swung slowly from side to side in the wind. No change was forthcoming, and the village knew that in at least one thing, the inquisitor had been right:
They had made a mistake.
The newly elected mayor Novice consoled his fellow villagers, and advised everyone to return to their homes and bar their doors. Night was falling, and everyone dreaded what would happen next...
You are shoving responsibility onto some one who if he is a villager has no more knowledge than you.
If it turns out that he choses a villager it would make him look bad as the deciding votee. Additional if there happens to be a wolf as alternate it would look quite bleak.
Alternatly: Supposing you, novice & Cull are wolves. Then your idea would give novice the chance to mayorkill Cull and look quite above suspicion lateron.
Anyway I look at it the chances for you beeing a WW has increased.
Gah! I was half-convinced he was guilty and I would only be flushing out a werewolf by my switch. Now I don't know what to think. Oh well, time for bed, see you all in 24hrs (unless the wolves kill me, of course).
novice Wrote:Fwiw i thought my vote nailed cull, i didn't realize that lewwyn had a two vote swing.
Agree, it did move fast, I thought you'd tied it too Novice.
Lynching a villager on the first day isn't a huge surprise, but as a positive, there is now a link between Lewwyn and Cull.
If it should turn out that one of them is a wolf (and I'm not saying that either are), then the other should join the firing line instantly.
