Much as I'd enjoy gavagi's complaints if a human subbed in, an ai would be fairer. I don't know when they play, but it'd have to be at turn end wouldn't it? also a warning that in future gavagi shouldn't play until opponents have logged out might be in order (i was going to suggest not logging in while they play, but remembered I've done that...)
If the ai plays at eot would a re-load give gavagi a double move due to turn order?

Yeah, a reload to before the turn play by bantams would give Gavagai a double move. But I don't think that matters much, since leaving units fortified in the city might be the best we can hope.
I think I'll rule to reload to before bantams have played and make him retire to AI. Any objections to thta? I think its the least bad solution (from a bunch of bad possible ones), considering the objective of just keeping on with the game.
And I'll ask gavagai not to log in before people warring against him in the future.

Lots of drama in this game. Not the good kind either.

Could you avoid a reload by having gavagai not move any units during his part of the turn split? He stays idle with all of his units in that theater this turn, the AI plays, then he takes over the first part of the split as is necessary when fighting an AI.
Still think it would have been better to have a human replacement, the AI is going to be almost as easy as bantams.

Yeah, that makes sense. No reload, since the offending units, already moved this turn, won't be able to double move Gavagai next turn, since the AI moves at end turn.
I really doubt we can get a replacement in a timely fashion. I think this game has had big flaws from its conception and the best we can hope for is just to not let it die a premature death, with long pauses and delays.

Sounds good to me.

The AI would kill one of Gavagai's units if we did that. I think the unit that double moved him would move again at the end of turn.

But the unit already expired its movement points, so it can't move again. That's if we got it roght that the AI moves at the end of a turn, not the beggining of it.

If he loses one unit while at war that's a cost of doing business. Maybe not fair, but also it isn't fair to other players that bantams resembled the fabled "human goody hut" either. Best to minimize unfairness when possible and move on with it.
Thanks for taking on the thankless job, Ichabod.

If Plako is correct that the AI moves at the beginning of the turn, this seems like a good solution.
I have to run.
