How likely and often is it that someone drops out that early? Is it almost a guarantee? Also how often do these Pitboss games happen? I want to get some rough ideas so I don't get my hopes up to play some time soon only to later find out that another game won't be for like a year or something. Also is there any threads where new players like me can find information on how everything works? I don't want to have to keep asking a million questions but I've never done anything like this before and this all seems so new to me.
If you don't want to wait for someone to drop out, or for a new game to start, we can team up for now. It will force me to engage more in the game while making it easier for me if I have a busy week (I might ask you to play the turns every now and then).
The other advantage is that my thread is empty right now so you won't be considered "spoiled" for a few days, enabling you to change your mind if an opportunity arises.

But unforseen circumstances can occur and with 25 players it's pretty likely someone will drop out, but it's no guarantee. IIRC we had 2 dropouts in the first 100t of PB18(a 33 player game).
These large pitboss games don't have very often and I'd be a bit surprised if we got another one of this size going. Smaller games of 5-12 players used to happen very frequently though, every couple of months. Lately there's been a bit of drop in activity and this game is possibly stealing potential players. You can start a thread in the general discussion forum at any time(even now!), stating the type of game you want to play and see who else is interested, that's pretty much how these games start.
Regarding how everything works, there is a pitboss etiquette thread which might be useful: http://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showt...p?tid=7311. Thanks, I read the thread I understand it a bit more now

The map is definitely and visibly progressing. Cornflakes is generating the base map, and has posted WBSaves getting closer and closer to the final result, but is still making significant changes to improve balance and/or make the map look more like what was requested in this thread.
In the meantime, we've established enough about the final layout that I've been able to design most of the BFCs, with fifteen posted in the lurker thread so far awaiting further feedback and the finalized map, and six more first drafts finished that I plan to post tonight. If I (and/or others) get all 25 done and get the thumbs-up from other lurkers before the rest of the map work is done, we can randomize which player gets which start and post them in your threads along with leader/civ pick options.
I'd like to again recommend that you guys set up a test game to make sure everyone's able to connect, get the mod working correctly, etc. Especially if it turns out that some of the players are unable to actually play from T0, finding out sooner will significantly reduce the delays that would inevitably result.

I can set up a test game. I'm assuming we're still on RtR 2.0.8.3?

Confirmed, that's the wrong port. You (and I) logged into PB37 at 2058. There is a game set up at 2059. Try that one. Xenu, please confirm.
