Ok, sounds good. Go ahead and create the invitation when you feel ready and sooooo and I will join. I saw your post on scheduling in the PBEM 4 thread; best wishes for your family and hope all goes well.

regoarrarr Wrote:So in our stone age game, is this likely to be the last turn? With the 0 in the one building pile?

The game ends when one of the huts piles are depleted or when you can't refill the cards. So it someone buys the 2nd hut or if all 4 cards are bought then yes, it's the last turn. Note that even if you put a guy on a hut you aren't forced to actually buy it ...

It's 5 food.

Our game of Thurn und Taxis ended, with me winning with 28 points, followed by sooooo with 19 and Amelia with 9 points.

Amelia, sooooo, I think what won me the game was your slow play with regards to the carriages. The turn you got your 6-carriages, I completed the 7-carriage. The 7-carriage provides 10 points, which is by far the biggest amount of points you can get in the whole game - even Bavaria only gives you 5! So the game is usually a race to the 7-carriage, and if you don't manage to get it on the turn another player gets his (i.e., the final turn), you usually lose. In fact, that's the one thing I do not like about the game: That racing for the biggest carriage is a must, and that the carriages dominate everything else.

Anyway, thanks for the game! Thurn und Taxis is very well suited for PBEM play, it plays a lot faster than the other games I've played so far. smile

Yep, thanks for the game. However, I disagree that the game is (or should be) a race to the carriages. I've played it quite a lot, and it's probably the majority of times that if one person gets the 7 and the other(s) the 6 they win, but by far not always. The difference between the 7 and the 6 is only 3 points. That's the same as getting an "average" tile. I've lost plenty of games where I can get the 7, end the game and still not win because other players have concentrated on other things.

The more important reason you won was because you got the 1-in-every-province bonus of 5 points, plus the bavarian cities bonus of 6. Normally people are able to achieve one of those, but getting both in the same game is quite unusual.

EDIT: Up for a rematch on the power and glory map?

Haha, of course you are correct - I just realize my gaming group has played this incorrectly until now. lol Somehow we added up the carriage points so that the last carriage was actually worth a full 10 points, and not only 3. smoke

Normally I never even try to get Bavaria, as I think it's just not worth the effort. You can more easily combine the 1-in-every-province bonus with the bonus of other provinces. I just got lucky this game to get Bavaria as well.

But I also seem to have been more efficient with placing houses - it looks like your routes had some cities more than one time.

That depends. If Yucata allows playing with the normal rules on the new map, then yes. If we have to use the new ruleset (which I don't really like), then no. wink

Yay, and I've won Stone Age again as well! jive Final scores: Kylearan:sooooo:Regoarrarr:Sunrise 195:176:159:122.

EDIT: Huh? That's the scoring order the Yucata system message says. But if I click on "replay the game", it turns out Sunrise is the one with 159 and Rego has 122? huh

I hadn't planned to ignore feeding my people when the game started, but after I got good shaman cards in the beginning and realized my position in the turn order would be perfect for this, I just had to try it out. smile I thought with so many meeples and no need to improve my farm level, I should be able to do enough things every turn to offset the 10 points penalty per turn. Luckily you realized this too late, and I also got lucky getting all shaman cards in the game. hammer And being able to unload gold and stone into the 1-7 resource hut cards helped as well.

I'm amazed that Sunrise didn't get more points in the end though (no offense meant!). He had a fantastic start, with farm level 3 on the second turn already! (Edit: Turns out Sunrise did get more points than I originally thought, see above)

I'd be up for another game of Stone Age as well, if there's interest. It's a really good game! I think I'll buy it in real life as well.

It does let you use the normal rules on the old map. I don't like the new rules either.

I'm really, really stupid. In Egizia, it looks like I misinterpreted the water ring. As my last action last turn, I have moved the water ring to the wrong direction, starving myself. rolleye banghead

I've also surprised how scarce stones are even with only 3 players. In general I'm really learning a lot the hard way in this first game. smoke Regardless how this game will turn out (I'd be really surprised if I'm not losing horribly!), I already demand a rematch! smile

Urgh Kylearan, you starved me as well =(
For thurns and taxis, i kinda... missed everything. Tried one city in each province missed out, tried one city in all white, missed out, along with others. No idea what i was doing.
