Bing moved everything to the capital, and so I moved up to threaten Kaechon and New Uungi

Comm is healing inside the renamed Schofferhoffer and I need to rename the cities of Superdeath valley.

If you attack Kaechon, what happens to the city and the land around it? You've said you want to be friendly toward Comm, but also that you might raze and are bothered by the orphaned iron; are you planning to plant a city for a different distribution of who gets this area, pillage, or just leave it for Comm (or MS) to figure out how to resettle?

Am I allowed to gift a settler to someone? I'm thinking about sending Commodore a settler.

Unit gifting is usually off by default, so I would say no unless it was specifically voted on.

1 city gift is allowed as a peace deal, so I could effectively do the same thing with extra steps and have it be legal ... technically

Wouldn't that cost you stable trade with Comm, though?

Mercantilism.

But it does increase the potential for misunderstandings, so I'm still not sure I would go that route

So for PB72 I specifically changed the voting to 1 city per deal vs 1 city per peace treaty so in situations like this one person could take a city and gift it (avoiding awkward war then offer). While I understand the settler argument there is no guarantee Commodore would use it to resettle the same site. I would just raze and let him resettle if you think the situation warrants.

Bing must be thinking exactly what you guys are all thinking because he is being very blatant in his defensive strategy:  he pulled everything out of the cities that I was threatening and is sending everything to defend against Commodore.

Commodore also has taken note and sent me this message:

Seems obvious to me: the pig/ivory is on my side of the line (at Mediolanum) and the fish/spice is his side of the line (mainland Bing at New Uungi).  But my issue with New Uungi is that it's going to take Commodore forever to get there since Bing is throwing all his troops into the capital - and I would like Bing's culture to be removed from Medio so I can work the pig tile there.

So I burned it.

I then gave Commodore 30g (a little over half the raze/pillage gold I got) and then repeated the diplo message. I also pulled all my troops back.  Bing is smart to try to get us spatting at each other, and I won't fall for it.  Let's just build up.  I would burn Kaechon, but then I worry Magic Science would just move his settler into the area.

Here's how Bing has set up his defenses:

Everything else is a single defender in a city.  So he's practically giving everything to me and putting all the resistance on Commodore's side.  And it's a little frustrating that this is going to work because I'm not going to push into his lands to upset Commodore.  Perhaps I could try to move forces in to help Commodore attack Bing as a show of goodwill ... if we were on the same end of the turn split.

Anyway, no settler for Commodore and no city.  I'll just sit tight and see if I can do anything.  But I'm probably going declare on MS in 5 turns.

Remember when we promised Naufrager we'd go to war with Magic Science?  I'm pretty sure Naufrager is just sitting back and waiting for us to declare before he does anything.

Which if I'm being honest is really freaking stupid.  Because naufrager landed STEEL this turn, meaning all he should be doing the next couple turns is saving gold and upgrading catapults to cannons.  Why?  Because culture is so in his favor:

If Magic Science doesn't move his stuff out of Joker then he is going to lose his main army.  Everything there is vulnerable and if naufrager is doing anything other than saving up for cannons to rip that to pieces than he's playing this wrong.

Also, 6 turns to Steel on break even science?  Holy Crap, nauf's tech rate is way ahead of the pack.  It's going to take us something like 9 turns to get Rifling when we finally pull that in.

I repeated naufrager's request for me to join in 5 turns because I think I'll declare .. and then do nothing.  Or I might not declare.  I've been thinking a bit about what happens after these wars are done:  if Commodore eats the rest of Bing then Magic Science is a potential 3-way dogpile target next.  But then again, if Nauf kills MS then I might be the one.  I feel like the status quo is to my benefit right now, so there's no reason to speed anything along.  Just let everyone have their wars and I'm going to try to get to teching.

Although, nauf's stack is scary if he decides to send that through Commodore's lands to hit me (though why? he would gain nothing and risk a lot).
