Took lots of screenshots this turn - something of an overview of the empire.
I started off by accepting the gold from Shoot, and got a nice surprise:
That was rather thoughtful of him
I offered ivory in return and kicked off my payments for Plako/Moscow.
I founded three more cities this turn; bringing my total up to 34 cities, with one more on the way.
Here's my domestic advisor screen:
I took the shot before I adjusted all my cities at the end of the turn, so the numbers aren't entirely accurate. However, it conveys the general idea of what I'm up to right now: building lots and lots of infrastructure, especially dikes. Next turn I'll be starting up a slew of factories.
I'm still using Cairo as a missionary pump and spreading Buddhism around:
I don't have any Jewish monasteries, so I unfortunately cannot spread it around to take advantage of the Apostolic Palace. The cities that do have Judaism will build temples though. During my upcoming golden age, I'll be running organized religion, and will use the opportunity to spread it to my hammer-focused cities.
I detailed my remaining forces from World War II to serve as military garrisons in my core, and deleted a lot of my old military police units.
With my airships idle, I decided to have a look at what Darrell is doing:
He core is well-developed, running free speech and universal suffrage with tons of mature towns. Little wonder he's so far ahead in GNP.
I've highlighted the two great engineers he has idling in his capital in preparation for the Space Race. He additionally is sitting on a great merchant and great general.
I got visibility on all but three of his cities, so that's basically all of his military. He's got a pretty-good sized force of destroyers.
I now have espionage visibility on NoSpace's three northernmost cities. Should make it easy to spot any potential attacks from that direction.
Assembly Line came in at the end of the turn, and nobody else finished a tech. Espionage shows NoSpace working on Medicine. Slightly curious because last turn it showed they had one turn left on industrialism, decided not to finish and swapped research? I'm not even really sure why they want medicine. Are they really hurting for health in their cities on this map?
I'm toying with the idea of diverting from communism and snagging fascism next turn. Not the most economically smart move, but the free great general would be nice. Paratroopers are also fun.
Here's all the important graphs:
GNP:
Manufacturing:
Food:
Power:
The spike in food, gnp, and hammers is really encouraging as my empire goes into economic recovery. Pity that it's too little, too late.
Finally, a visual overview of my realms:
Going to be talking to Shoot sometime soon to discuss the future of this game.
