If the game is still paused, I can make the change to a trireme over my lunch break if that's something you'd want to do.

Go ahead, if possible. The trireme will be useful on that sea and the barracks isn't exactly a top priority build on TLT. I value the nets in SIR higher than getting to 10 culture early.

The turn rolled before I was able to leave, I guess a 2-pop whip from TLT will have to do in a few turns.

WLP cancelled our Silver for Gems trade, in retaliation of me cancelling the Fur for Ivory trade. That put some of our cities into unhappiness. FinHarry accepted a gems for silver trade, even when I proposed it very late into the turn, saving us the lost production. That was very helpful!

Let me explain.

I moved some units to siege Beshbalik, Krill's last stand in the mainland. WE were getting 65% odds against the archers defending, but I figured taking an extra turn to bombard the city's defenses would make things better. Krill reacted by doing this:

Not exactly sure what he intended to do, but one can say that there really wasn't anything for him to do. Maybe he wanted to take TDT before losing those units? Anyway, I'm not exactly that dumb to allow that. Maybe he could take TDT with those units, with some decent rolls, but I wouldn't give him the chance. So:

No buildings survived, unfortunately. frown

Than, I could use the neutral roads to get to Krill's units. First, 2 WE attacked 2 archers at 95,3% odds, both winning. Next unit defending was a 5 strenght catapult, and I didn't have any full health high strenght units. I could let the unit survive for another turn, but I didn't want to let Krill have a chance of deleting that worker (I doubt he would do it, but still). So, I decided that expending a chariot for a worker was a good deal.

No reason to not increase our chances by getting the 25% against siege units promo, right? The chariot killed the catapult, praised be the sun! After that, it was just 99,9% odds against warriors. Those battles came with good news, though.

Another bit of good news is that Krill, in a gesture of gentleness, decided not to pillage my nets with his galley.

For that reason, I renamed Beshbalik to Elegant People, which seemed fitting.

In domestic news, the Palace in DP was delayed due to a barb, of all things.

Yes, I had only one defender in DP, a spear. cry (albeit a C2, shock one). Due to being stupid, The units I could get to DP in that turn where already ordered to move, since I was trying to reinforce the west, and I couldn't get a chance to cancel those moves before I saw the stupid barb. He could pillage a village that grew on that exact turn if I didn't kill him, which was annoyiing as hell.

So, I changed DP's build to a 2t chariot and I moved the archer in GtG to be able to attack the axe on the next turn. I also moved the warrior defending MoK to be able to garrisson DP the next turn, in case I'd need the spear to attack too.

Luck was on my side and the archer did a good amount of damage, leading to this:

I kept moving the spear to that area after killing the barb, in order to spawn bust and avoid any further shananigans.

That annoying barb was not the worst news of the turn. This one was:

It was obviously too optimistic to think I could hit WLP before he got to Longbows. Well, maybe they'll make him think he has enough protection. One have to try and look at the bright side of things, I guess...

HE finished in BoM. I can 1t all the units I can build. I'm thinking of getting some HAs, they are pretty useful. I also should decide what to do with the GG I got.

I need to see how many turns I need to get to Guilds. I also want Engineering and Theology. I really wonder if attacking WLP with knights is a good idea. How many cities would I need to take with a first wave of attack to turn WLP into a "sitting duck", unable to fight back? Can I accomplish that, how many knights would I need? For now, I'll build some HAs, maybe some units to compliment the stack in Slow's land (when it comes back to the west).

The economic war will go ahead, since I'll be cancelling the wine for spices trade soon, after getting my own wine. Not sure if that's damaging him, but since he apparently got pissed by the ivory trade that ended, I'm guessing it is at least a bit painful.

I think I'll try to sell my extra happies very cheap to Bacchus and Retep, like 5gpt for a happy resource. No harm in doing it, I guess.

There are two galleys heading to West City. I need to drop 2WEs and 2 phalanxes on the same turn near the city to be safe from attacks from Krill. After that, just get some Catapults and slowly grind through his units... Ugh...
