Well that sucks. Lord Parkin, maybe you could respond here? Did you forget we were not communicating with other players? The rules even specifically mention no in-game text.

Still, people do this kind of thing regularly and we never kick them out of the game over it. But the rule infraction aside, at this point I would more than happy to get a replacement player. Most people proactively get a sub if their playing ability is going to be impeded for a few days. This has been going on for 3 weeks - with people complaining, so it's not like it's a secret - and still no solution offered by Lord Parkin. I really don't see any reason not to take the first sub we can find.

Even if a reasonable explanation is offered, the turn pacing issue also requires resolution.

I just want to point out this: given that Gavagai seems about to die (RIP), if Parkin gets forcibly replaced here then that's 4 out of 10 current players being replacements. At what point does this stop being a competition between players?

I don't think that replacement players count any less than the people who originally signed up. It still seems entirely like a competition between players to me, albeit a slow-moving one.

Seven pointed me here - this little bit of "drama" can only be referring to the turn when I coated a barb city in signs and renamed a unit to remind myself not to take it. Yeah, renaming the unit was a dumb afterthought, will stick to just signs in future. Hardly a Class A biohazard emergency decontamination event of the highest magnitude though. But I appreciate how Krill carefully pluralized his post as if to indicate this was one of many events, and immediately recommended my ejection from the game. Cheers bro.

Look, I know a lot of folks here like to paint me out to be some kind of Machiavellian villain, but I would have hoped a few years of peace and building goodwill would have changed that. Apparently prejudice is hard to leave behind for some people though. Please try to be reasonable - this kind of over-the-top response based solely on a username is the sort of thing which I imagine encourages people to consider sockpuppeting.

Oh, and for the record, you don't need my password if you want to replace me. The host can reset that quite easily.

In the future when you've broken the rules, I think you should consider 1) Apologizing, 2) Thanking the person who pointed it out (even if they were relatively critical), 3) Offering to make it better somehow, 4) Indicating that you understand the rule and won't break it again, and 5) Talking to the people you are playing the game with rather than a lurker whose opinion is not as directly important. The focus on proving that Krill is wrong, instead of on trying to make sure that the other players are satisfied and that the game is running fairly, is unbecoming.

More important to me is the fact that you once again ignored the problem of your being late to play every single turn for three weeks, often very late. It's really embarassing if we have to do your job of finding a sub for you.

Fair points - I was dealing with one post at a time but I shouldn't have let my attention focus exclusively on Krill. For the record, I am sorry about the renamed unit, and I thought it was a given that there would not be a repeat occurrence.

I will post requesting a replacement since that is clearly in the best interests of a consistent turn pace. I thought I could continue to juggle my real life commitments in addition to sparing 1-2 hours to play each day, but the past week or two has shown that this is evidently that is not the case. I'll be sad to let my civ go, and I hope my absence won't jolt the balance of power on the map too much for the rest of you.
