REM goes on the Sudric Express [Pitboss 33 spoilers]

For starters, your naming theme rules. I apparently loved Thomas the Tank Engine as a little kid. When I noticed your naming theme, I wiki'd it and was shocked to find out the series aired for quite a long time.

After looking in, my nightmare scenario here is myself and Khmer slogging it out, and Scooter being able to build wealth/research until he wins... Gah. This is a prisoners dilemma. Neither Scooter nor I move - we both loose. One of us moves - the other is likely to win. We both move, equal chances of winning...

I talked about this a little bit in my thread's post-mortem... but yeah, the entire game hinged on you and I both running this scenario through our heads. How do you feel about this now if you had attacked Dreylin the way you did without my involvement? I think you were further ahead of me at this point than either of us realized.

I thought they were going to attack this turn, attacking on the one, rather than the beat after one. Now I am not so sure. I don't think he would have sent that if he were to declare this turn.

The sequence of posts about the countdown was amazing to me. I went through a lot of effort to make sure this was very clear including logging in ahead of time so that it would be more clear what turn I was counting towards. lol

He doesn't have it, and is not getting it from anyone else. Just a little war weary will cause me issues in the bigger cities (which both have theatres for the bonus) why not trade resources? It is bizarre how much that is annoying me.

I have no idea what was up here, but there's a strong chance that "refusing" the trade was actually Sullla logging in, screenshotting the trade offer for me (not wanting to accept it for me just to be safe), and then later I logged in and re-offered it? I know that happened a few times. In retrospect I probably should have just let you twist in the wind and be mad at me for this one.

It was mostly my issue from not really checking CivStats to see who was logging in and what turns offers were likely sent on. Plus then there is the go on 1 or the beat after 1 philosophy which it can be either tbh. But the trade I swear I offered like 4 times... I knew I would be bumping happy limit very fast. I think Dreylin might have had issues without the extra happy from his gems compared to wine/dye.

I think I could have made a turtle work in hindsight. I had seemingly much more prod cities than you both, and more obvious expansion options for later. You really needed to down peg Dreylin with the amount of border you shared. I think I made the right call though.

I had full city demo vis on Dreylin for most of the game, and out of GA without builds he was making very little. I don't quite get this.

There is a narrow but surprisingly deep generational band for whom Ringo Starr is the most famous Beatle.

Any qyestions do ask!

Why did you waste hammers on customs houses? They're one of the worst things in the game to spend hammers on.

In hindsight now they may be a waste, but the three I built in the biggest cities gave an extra 6 commerce per turn when they were built. These cities also had the full lib/ob/uni bonuses and FR. So that's about 11 extra GNP/turn at full sci. Cost of 144 hammers. The wealth build alternative would be probably around 7-8 GNP/turn allowing a higher slider run. I think hey came out more useful than not therefore, but they did Have a long payback.

I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one that built a couple of these. They're normally terrible buildings, but it felt right for the reasons you outlined.

Yeah I just missed it. I'd been expecting you to fort that tile for awhile, so I was obsessively checking every single tile for hidden Transports. I did check that tile, but somehow I just didn't see it.

(August 6th, 2016, 21:13)ReallyEvilMuffin Wrote: Then there is the fact that I saved 2 unhealth everywhere without the coal hookup, and got the 10% hammer bonus, where when every tile has workshops is huge quite frankly.

I didn't even really notice this, but yeah that's massive.

Anyway, nice thread and well played game. The victory was definitely well-deserved. thumbsup

Haha yes definitely. I was convinced as a child that he voiced wakko Warner too, and was half right as apparently the voice artist styled them self on him.
