The Haunted Forest: Mardoc puts the Sidar to the test.

Mardoc Wrote:I think..Merchants are more flexible - gold and food can turn into lots of things. On the other hand, Sages get the best multipliers right now - that'd let us consider touching the slider... You're probably right that we don't want Engineers, hammers are the one thing that's easiest to waste.

Yeah, we can get hammers from multiple sources (tiles, upgrading, specs) but Beakers/Gold are tough atm.

Quote:Y'know - I bet this is it. He doesn't want to bring along his whole army at first, just enough to make Bob sweat and push the button. Probably would prefer that to be mostly withdrawers, too. He can wait to bring the rest until the ents go back away.

Looking at the power graph....Serdoa's in for some hurt if he goes up against Bob in the next few turns.

jive

Quote:Frankly, if he were going to NAP stab - this is about the dumbest possible way to do that. Have you seen any sign so far that Serdoa is dumb?

Yeah, me neither.

Nope, haven't seen any sign that he is dumb (though I still question the order of his rush targets)......OTOH.....I've seen a few posts here and there that cause me to question his integrity.

So a NAP stab is a possibility.

Don't forget the blur spell from your palace mana (Shadow 1)

Blur gives immune to first strikes and defensive strikes smile (might be useful vs Horsemen and especially Horse Archers)

probably best promo order for adept would be Shadow (blur) -> Spirit (healing from courage) -> Enchantment (blade if ya still need it)

In other news...

Holy cow, did my exploring DS's just get outmatched! Methinks it's time for them to run home and find their mommy (or at least some backup and poisoned weaponry). Yes, it still looks like the only limit on our XP at the moment is how much we can harvest.

On that note - three pieces of happy news:

...which is why I'm sticking with Scouts for DS upgrades, at the moment. All these wanes are definitely good news, but they do mean we'll have to step up our game with the Recon population.

We did kill 6 barbs this turn, so the Recon got some promotions, too, it wasn't all Wanabes. And we can be even more aggressive once they're Ghosts; pretty soon we'll have to rotate them home to upgrade smile.

Ah...looks like we've forced the interface to change a bit jive

And, a picture of how our diligent Workers are making out:

No, I think we need the healing most of all, to increase our XP-gain rate. Healing is right now a bottleneck on how fast we can farm the barbs.

I understand.

Spirit -> Shadow -> Enchantment then? :D

granted Blur is 100% wear off time ... but better have that on hand when the hammer falls then a few extra enchanted blades eh?

Serdoa's stack has moved out of Asteroids, too:

Bob, you'd better get your stuff together!

I figure it's about a 98% chance that next turn we see March of the Trees in the log, and Bob retaking his city - but, well - ouch!

In our news, not so much happening. Settled a Sage - last one of those for a while - the incoming Wanabes are slated to become merchants. We've finally scraped up the hammers for a 1t ToK, so I do that. We'll need a few turns to save up the money to upgrade most of our DS's to Ghosts, so maybe we should go straight into Rathus building?

Either that, or it's time to build our Mage Guild and grow.

nvm

lurkers only below.
for posterity's sake, I believe here I said both mage guild and Rathus denmora were solid choices, and I advocated for Rathus first because I felt it was an optimal use of the time they had until the NaP expired. As the tone of the thread was a build up of war-equipment until the NaP with Serdoa expired, that was the sole parameter I used to give advice.

Hooboy!

This should get entertaining....wink

Maybe not. The power demos indicate that Bob didn't suffer much in the way of losses. He might trigger MotT to pwn Serdoa's stack, but from what I can see he doesn't need to.

Think we want the Hero on the board asap....either for Waning or for keeping. In either case, sooner built sooner leveled up. wink

It was his newly captured barb city he lost, not one of his core. He didn't lose much GNP or production, either - so you're probably right. Err...assuming he can catch Serdoa, and doesn't get himself hopelessly forked. Depending on the details, if I were him I might March anyway to enable concentration on Serdoa's stack.

Maybe even retake Hyol first, then March to kill the troops that captured it lol. All assuming this is possible - but I'll grant that horses don't exactly make good city defenders lol

Probably right. I'm 90% sure we'll want to wane him - Str 5 hero just isn't that impressive, not compared to what +1 food/+11 gpt can provide. Not this late in the game.

Ah, that reminds me. What exactly is the requirement for Aeron's Chosen? Highest level assassin? A specific level? If I need a level 6 Ghost, I may have to do a little more training - I think my highest level DS is only level 5.

Also, Tasunke - I don't mean to be rude, but you're globally spoiled. You really shouldn't be advocating anything to any of us - that's what dedlurking is for.

Assuming I do manage to pull out a victory here, I don't want anyone thinking it's because you gave me information I shouldn't otherwise have.

Ah, the server cooperates. That was a very fast turnaround on the turn!

No March - no recapture, either. Or further capture. I'm definitely hoping that Bob and Serdoa record the war carefully, I want to know what's happening! frown.

By firing a Sage, I manage to get Rathus down to a 3-turn build.

In what passes for excitement around here - I spot a barb axe! Does that mean there's a city? Or just that everyone's gotten to bronze?
