seriously guys! i suggested iron working ages ago and was told no and now look:

now victorias the only viable spot we have left! i put a worker as a place-holder in old deuteronomy before i spotted this. ill change to a settler next turn

shoots now on 0% tech. shame we cant afford to do iron working next turn but after 2 turns at 0% ourselves we can

keep forgetting to look at this screen:

wow! there was enough overflow from code of laws to do iron working in 1 turn at 0% haha. so thats hello to the gems and ive queued up masonry next so we can improve the marble. do a monarchy run next? [via polytheism and monotheism obviously]

settler and spear on their way to settle asparagus on the fur/horse/clam site. the settler building in old deuteronomy will be for victoria and ill set one building in macavity after the courthouse for the fish island backfill [demeter] so the culture of asparagus isnt isolated. may change those libraries in skimbleshanks and rumpleteazer to courthouses and set about chopping them out

ive decided to tech at 50% to do masonry polytheism monotheism and monarchy in 5-6 turns. unless i get told different haha

on the wonder front theres only the chichen itza left at the moment and i have no idea where to put the forbidden palace once we have enough courthouses

I would focus heavily on the islands, I think. Are you building lots of grassland cottages to grow on? Have a look at the pop distribution on the victory screen. I wouldn't work a scientist in a city where you aren't planning on generating a GP, 3 beakers is a very low output for a citizen and you seem to have spare happiness still. You don't want to limit growth, better to double whip it away. Food is your most valuable commodity, a conservative estimate says that if 1 food is worth 4 "points", 1 hammer is worth 3 and 1 commerce is worth 2.

victoria isn't a bad site, make sure you don't lose it (although there should be little risk of a plant that aggressive). Do you have any plans for GP generation?

so youre happy with the tech rate? cool haha. polytheism completes at end of turn with monotheism following

old deut and mistoffelees are fully cottaged up. macavity and mungojerrie have 2 tiles left undeveloped. bombalurina has that jungle but obv im working on that now. regarding mungojerrie it only has 1 happy left as it grows in 2 turns [inc this one] but gems should be online by the time it moves into unhappiness. so ill keep the scientist for now

ive 2-pop-whipped the settler in old deut and it can regrow on the courthouse i queued earlier

as you can see i decided to disembark the settler and spear this turn and discovered wet wheat! will take this into the 1st ring and hope to border-pop onto the horse [which we already have] will have to ferry over some workers next.

so monotheism is in and monarchy comes in at end of this turn. umm can we revolt to organised religion without a state religion? could wait until sians confucianism spreads. or try for taoism [civil service]?

have put metal casting as a placeholder as it suggests this is a 1-turn-tech at 100% but will need a turn at 0% first. or could just plod along at 50% for 2 turns instead. *actually at end of turn i noticed it takes 3 turns at 50% and would be likely to be 2 turns at 100% after 2 turns at 0%. not any gain from binary atm

dammit!! how did we miss the iron deposit! ive plotted 5 possible sites for jennyanydots:

a) quite quick set-up. takes silks from macavity
b) takes pigs from bustopher
c) takes wet rice from mistoffelees
d) similar to a but uses a grassland to gain a forest
e) a bit in no-mans land

come on guys. some help here!

I think you should settle 2W of d. No food resources, but lots and lots of grassland tiles and several river tiles that aren't grabbed otherwise. b looks best for the iron, using pigs to grow fast. Will you be able to fully explore the close islands anytime soon? Are you able to crank out settlers faster? Looks like you could benefit immensely from additional cities, I think you're prioritizing infrastructure a little too high at the moment.

2w of d could kinda use the silk to start growing.

the galley is going to cut between the near islands on its way to pick up a team of workers.

so i should switch to settlers workers and military ftb?

It may not be worthwhile switching if you're more than halfway on the current building. If you give me shots of all cities (and a big overview shot at max zoom out) I'll comment on each city. For example, in a previous post macavity was shown building a courthouse. That's a very bad investment, it has an upkeep of 2. I also think 20 commerce is on the low end for a market to be worthwhile.
