As a French person I feel like it's my duty to explain strikes to you. - AdrienIer

[Spoiler] Kaiser has a plan

I think you are right I was pondering this as well all day long and I believe you are right. Basically, I do not want to loose more than 1 FC at Geneva (which are only really at risk by his 3-star frigate and a follow up shot by something) to be able to great anything landing at Isaac, GM with 2 FC. We already have 2 Xbows waiting for upgrade at EM and AK together with Medieval walls and two bombards to garrison in the CC to fire back on any ships attacking the cities.

We probably want to station the 3 Bombard near the 2 Campi (maybe the banana tile) to fire back and destroy any boats trying to plunder our science facilities here.

The Ironclad will be very important as it gives us some counter potential and lets us move the FC more liberally on the coast and coast adjacent tiles. Right now Geneva seems to be a death trap.
~10 turns to get it out

Yeah Bortus IZ is another long term project, but a nice +4 in a city with low production otherwise. We currently do not run any multiplier cards and will not until the Ironclad is finished, so it can get the production and then turn it into quicker units.
The real weird long term project is actually the IZ at Charly Burke (+5 when the aquedcut is ready) and even more the IZ at Steve Newton which would be the best location for a 2nd coal plant :weedy:

I have also been wasting turns of production lately into the wrong units as I have been changings plans a lot, but I feel the Ironclad into Steel play is the right way to go. We can buy every 5-6 turns an important unit and that combined with the outstanding Xbow upgrades (we should be able to upgrade 3, 4 will be very tight from a Icon_Gold perspective) already brings us to the limit of our income.

Isaac will likely finish its CH and Market for another trade route (+2 Icon_Gold market + ~8-10 Icon_Gold income trade route to Bologna or even better Ichabod + eventually +4 Icon_Gold triangular trade)

Suboptimal is hiding his units, he is likely positioning them in the Northern Sea to then decide on where to strike. We are preparing our defenses and I regret by now having sent three FC to Geneva last turn, he might kill one or two and one seems to be stuck inside Geneva.

CMF and Suboptimal are in Military alliance, I am still sad that the game is programmed the way it is that the DoF takes precedence over a MA, but that is the way it is and we have to eat the 5 CS disadvantage. We can egalize with Twilight Valor in ~2-3 turns.

It will be an interesting fight, thanks again Roland for helping me with ideas and stopping me from being to :weedy:

For me Suboptimal has made a tactical mistake here.

He is attacking with a tech disadvantage the opposite of what you want to do.

Now he has made the most of that and has extra CS, an allie and bigger army
but he could have joined you v CMF long ago and had 4 - 5 more cities by now.

he also hasn't settled all his land i don't think.

looking forwards to these battles. hopefully helps us get a heroic age here as well.

his general helps him as well. bit surprised Boudica is still helping him. We could do with a general.

one thing we will need to be careful of here is the sheer volume of units we may see coming at us.

we may lose ground but not cities.

will be interesting to see what he brings to deal with your walls.

cores may even limit us in terms of options to attack while making us much stronger simultaneously.

maybe we do that with fresh troops as discussed. maybe not depending on how it works.

As feared I fucked up 2 turns ago and we are going to loose all our FC near Geneva

Wow huge blow. Can we take anything with us. Maybe need to adjust some builds.

Had a look. Yeah we essentially need to cede the coast to that much firepower.

He seems to be going to Geneva to conquer it, now that he eradicted my 3 FC force. His MP is rising but I still think the total difference in Army is not that big, he has at least 3 Frigates (2 here, 1 South) 3-4 Caravels South and 2 Sea Dogs so a minimum of 370 MP bound in Navy, more likely close to 500 I hope.

We will push a mounted reaction force next turn and I will also send some units up to AK just to be sure. it will get crowded at Isaac anyway considering that we will stay out of firing range of his 3-star frigate here. I do not want to hand him to much science (by plundering my campus) so will try to hold this place with unit rotation and healing supported by our GS. He probably can still pick a unit/turn, but if it keeps him at half my science that should be a good trade, especially considering that GM can soon 3 turn Curassiers.

Woden is building Coal Power plants everywhere to abuse his ridiculus IZ complex (20 adjacency bonus with the 100%card at Osgiliath, the other 3 are ~14 each) With this he will get 4 cities up to 60 production. You think he is aware that I already have 2 cities on that production GM will go >80?

Plus anything he builds is far away. Yours is close.

Do need to consider cmf power as well though.
