I don't know if that's a very good excuse Azoth considering how aggressive we've been in settleing, from my understanding, we've significently settled into the land that was "supposed" to be WPC's and the Germans.

You're right, that excuse could backfire; but the funny thing is, we haven't squeezed the Germans so much as we've squeezed WPC. Treehuggers is 5N of our capital. Frozen Jungle and Ditchdigger are on the same row, further west. Wasseburg, the no-resources German city, is... 5S, 4E of their capital. And their idiot city looks to be on the same row, further west. Our cities are simply older, so we have more culture in the area. But it's really WPC who've been robbed, with the likes of Eastern Dealers and Simple Life.

Is it? From what I've read of past games here, the winning civ is more often one that just peacefully develops as long as possible. For example Sulla in PB2 and LP in PB4.
To a degree, they're two sides to the same coin as starting next to a weaker team allows you to peacefully expand for longer before running out of room.
(Also, for what it's worth, Spulla in PB2 doesn't really fit your argument--they quickly conquered Jowy as soon as they had an advantage)

And LP was distinctly atypical, he won because of diplomacy and getting away with poaching a ridiculous amount of land from everyone else and building like zero military.

Anyone who read our victory in Pitboss #2 as "peacefully develops as long as possible" must have missed the entire second half of the game where Speaker declared war over and over again. I seem to remember eliminating two other teams and being well on the way to eliminating a third when the game was called. Anyway, we don't need any reason to attack the Germans. Civilization is a game about controlling land and working tiles. They have land that we want. If they are too weak to defend it, then it becomes our possession. End of story.
FYI, I will play and post the current turn tomorrow. I'm happy with the micro stuff up to Turn 131 / Liberalism, just a matter of finding the time to play it.

well, one could argue that the point you started declaring war was "as long as possible"

Excuses are unnecessary and can make us look bad. Don't apologize, just act.
