Quick note to Asterix:
Quote:Hi Asterix,
Just sending a quick message to establish contact and exchange details. You can reach us by email at orgynized@gmail.com. If you prefer chat to writing emails, let us know your preferred method of contact (Skype, Gmail chat?).
We're sorry to see Maga go, but it's nice that you're willing to take over for her. I trust she mentioned that we have a non-aggression pact in place until turn 183. We'd be happy to forward you our past correspondence if she hasn't already... just let us know. Since we're not neighbours I'm sure we'll get along well, and our extended NAP will allow us many opportunities to work together in the future.
By the way, I'm curious - are you the Asterix from CFC, or unrelated?
Kind regards,
Lord Parkin (for Team Orgynized)

Not completely sure she is gone... just got the same connection issue I've had before with her when trying to join the game while her "sub" was in it. Of course it's possible they could have the same issue - it happens from time to time with other players - but it doesn't pop up particularly often so it's interesting it would happen now. Perhaps she's just playing the turn as a courtesy until he turns up, but then not sure why she's labelling herself as a "sub".

Turn 36
Domestics
Grew to size 5 and started on the Settler. Another chop combined with the overflow from the Warrior gave us a nice bonus in hammers.
Our Warrior uncovered the unexplored tile south of the Gold - just an ordinary desert as we were expecting.
Demographics
Care Bears got a population growth, as did Bowsling/Aivoturso.
We're currently the only civ with a size 5 city. Nice to be #1, if only briefly.

What's the build plan right after the settler finishes? How soon before the mysterious northeast can be scouted?
IIUC, human barbs start showing up (and animals start slowly dying) when the average number of cities per person exceeds 1.5, right? Are we close to that yet?

Right after the Settler, Stonehenge - which should only take a couple of turns. Then probably onto another Warrior or Worker, then another Settler... haven't finalised yet. We'll have another exploring unit soon though.

Shouldn't be much more than 10 or so turns, maybe less depending on whether we can afford to leave our territory with one guard.

I thought it was 2 per person, but you could be right - haven't checked it in a long while. I think they'll be limited to just Warriors (no Archers) as long as barely anyone researches Archery, which is fairly likely. With the Warrior built at the new city in addition to one or two more at the capital, we'll have enough Warriors to defend our territory for now. Could be Axes and Spears once all but 1-2 civs have BW though (I think?), so we probably want to make the Copper-Horse location our city #3.

Actually the fourth 2nd city was founded this turn 36 (Eagles & Condors), so we're only at an average of 1.4 cities per player right now.

Ah, nice! I feared the plan to get it around T47-48 was too slow.

This is what I've been going by for barb info. The whole thread is really interesting, if correct. It explains why I always see a sudden barb zerg-rush somewhere around T50-65, since it's where the city threshold crosses 3*N+1, and all the scattered barbs can assemble city attack missions suddenly.
I think for practical purposes barb archers don't exist in a multi player human game. IIUC barbs get 0-3% of a tech per turn weighted by the number of people who know it. So bronze barbs can appear 33 turns after the average time to Bronze Working, which is quite a while - probably at least turn 50 or more. The average time all humans have archery is always much later.

Thanks for the link, that's a really interesting read. I knew there was something to do with an average number of cities reaching 2, but it was the entering borders thing rather than the appearance of human barbs. Apparently as soon as the next person founds a city, the barb animal extinction process (and Warrior creation process) will begin, since we'll cross the 1.5 average city threshold.

Turn 37
Domestics
Continued building the Settler. Moved our first Warrior (tentatively named Dixie Normous) to the hill 1SW of his previous position. Probably best to leave him there to look out for approaching barbarians until our Settler arrives safely.
Demographics
EggHeads got a population growth, as did Cannibal Ponies. One of them grew their capital to size 5.
Dinosaurs got a tech - and based on the 13000 soldier count increase, it surely must have been Bronze Working.
