WW 31 Game Thread PARANOIA

Rowain, that's why I didn't vote for him. He played - besides that - as I expect from him. And that one post was bad in a way that I don't expect from wolf Azza. He doesn't normally make such mistakes, he is a calm player. That he would try to go against MJW on the grounds of MJW not being insane enough didn't not feel like a wolf for me that tries to get someone mislynched, but like a careless villager. In short: So bad that I didn't believe a wolf would do it. smile

Anyhow, I do think I made my points clear, if not everyone is free to ask. But I don't think we will get far with going on with this Rowain. I'd urge you to look at everyone and not just 3 people.

No, seriously, did people not read the post where the Mandatory Bonus Roles were initially introduced?
(January 16th, 2014, 18:08)BRickAstley Wrote: This game will also have Mandatory Bonus Duties. These are roles that are public in who has them and what they do. These roles will be passed to a new player in a set and hidden order, if the previous player possessing them is eliminated. There is also a set time that each of these roles will be removed from the game as the game goes on.
This exactly mirrors a previous (BRick?) game where the mayor lost their bonus weight once there were 7 people left *specifically to avoid it causing problems in the extreme end game*

So the team leader won't be the tie breaker, but that there will be something else that does break ties at that point? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I don't understand why the leader's tie breaker will be the unfair thing at the end - we're in a 20-person role madness game so there are bound to be plenty of other unbalancing things pro- and anti-wolf on the way through. Why would this need a specific hidden timetable to remove this role? (For clarity I'm not saying there isn't that timetable, I just don't get it...)

Glad you changed your mind Ryan smile I still have a slight wolf lean on you from it, it did sound a bit forced.

That seems like a natural plan to me too, pragmatically speaking. Though we should also factor in reads. And there could be additional factions (still good to hunt for more commies, though).

I don't like Merovech missing the deadline with one of the most powerful bonus duties. I think scum is more likely than town to do that, since scum might decide to go absent for tactical reasons.

I don't like Ryan's aimless play either, even if it may be in character.
If you know what I mean.

OK, catching up from last night, holy crap this game gets a lot of posts.

Mechanics-ish: Maybe I've missed the boat on replying to these since they're from almost a day ago now, and from before the vote, but in post 221 Harry said something about detaching your own survival from the village's, emphasizing self preservation being a noob-tell. I thought the point of the game was to survive to the end alive with your faction (whether you're town or scum) and to be in the majority faction to earn the win. You can't win if you're dead, right? Or do you win if your faction wins, whether you're dead or alive? I would have thought people should do and say nearly anything to stay alive if you'd have to be alive to win the game, and that not doing so would be bad strategy. But "detaching your survival from the village's" makes me think sacrificing yourself to defend the village isn't necessarily a bad thing if it helps out a wolf with the way the numbers work out.

Nice job killing scum on the first night -- The odds of it taking place aren't favorable, so well done. jive [Image: AR15firing.gif]

I don't remember who posted it, about the wolves possibly trying to save Azza with the late Qgqqqqq push even if Q was a wolf himself, but given Azza's apparently powerful role trying to sacrifice Q (if his role is less powerful than Azza's) would have been a good idea, sacrificing the weaker wolf role to save the stronger one.

Sorry I've been away, family visitors are gone now, child gets tucked into bed in a few hours. Apparently it's easier to stay on top of this game at work. (aka, easier to steal the boss's time than my own lol )

Damn this no edit rule and having to carefully parse every word with out lot of lawyers out there, too. In the post above "if it helps out a wolf" means "if it helps to out a wolf" as in to discover the wolf, not to assist. Because I know someone will be quoting that as "Xenu wants to help out a wolf".

Eh...preview button, I should use it...in the revision post above the word "out" should be replaced by "you" and then the sentence reads like someone above a kindergarten grade level wrote it.

Xenu wants to help out a wolf! On a more serious note, I agree with zakalwe you're too eager to play the newbie card. You should ask those furry friends of yours to brief you a little better (the other furry friends, not me).

To clarify: It doesn't matter if you die or not as long as your faction wins.
