The Backstabbers' Table - PBEM 4 Diplomacy Thread

@TheArchduke,

oledavy ship update (will be old news after he plays):
4 Subs 7 tiles directly east of the fish at "I Want to Break Free" (old Stockholm)
3 Subs in a westerly row, 1 tile south of your ironclad in the narrows.
He is also building a bunch of scouts? Might be bee-lining Rifling.

You do realize he has a fleet hiding in the channel? And possibly a Sea Dog and your caravel behind?

But at this point, I can't really withdraw. Blood for the blood god and all that. I'm just not happy about any of this.

Woden has commenced his attack on Kiel and pulled four frigates within range. Have at them! Just a heads up, there is a British ironclad northeast of Zitronheim.

relax my friend! This was a good round. You're subs are all unharmed, Archduke chickened out. His only naval unit south of the narrows is the wounded ironclad inside of Zuckerstadt (which we ought to take back). One of his two muskets is history too. If we could sink that ironclad hiding in Zuckerstadt, it would be awesome.

Woden got a taste what it means to attack Germany! Two of his four frigates in sight have been sent to the bottom of the Ocean. I invite him to stay around Germany longer. It's fun to defeat his army/navy driving his WW higher!

Impressive work!

My subs are now deployed in defensive positions west of Germany, and I have begun attacks on England's east coast.

@Singaboy:

Priority Targets for your turn:

1. His frigate fleet
2. His ironclad
3. Everything else

Allocate attacks accordingly

Well, with cities falling left and right to our underdog Oledavy finally we can stop the pretense of "stopping" TheArchduke.

In any case, Singaboy you did not exactly left me a choice, considering you allied with Oledavy before his giantic fleet hit. I had to strike first. I happily peace you in return for the cities, but I assume you are in throwing the victory to Oledavy mode now.

Well, nothing to do but soldier on and defend, I assume that Oledavy has this in the bag in about 10 turns. Has been a pleasure.

As it needed three attacks, I decided to sink Archduke's lvl 2 ironclad. You will face at least three units there, so plan what is best in this situation. Archduke is seemingly hell bent on taking Germany rather than defending his own shores against you, despite what is said above.

@Archduke
Unfortunately, as stated once before, your actions did not suggest that you were not interested in attacking Germany yet again. It was you, who left me with no choice but to seek for an alliance with oledavy. On top of that, you encouraged Woden to take my eastern holdings. Now, that things don't go as smooth as planned (and I assume WW mounting), you accuse me of supporting the winning player.

If there is any peace to be made, I guess it will come at a heavy price for you. Besides Zuckerstadt and Zitronenheim, there has to be some sort of compensation for the fact that both cities have suffered population and other losses yet again. You seem extremely rich, so I would say a payment of 50gpt for 30 turns sounds reasonable?

Just my own two cents but I would cut Zitronheim loose in any peace negotiation, the city is nothing but a defensive liability and will fall on the first turn of any conflict. At this point its not even a terribly productive city anyway.

We also stand a not insignificant chance of retaking Zuckerstadt, depending on what the naval situation looks like of course, so you may want to hold off and bargain from a position of greater strength.

For my part, any peace would have to come with some sort of security guarantee for Germany. Perhaps a global peace for 30 turns or so. The point is, I don't want a repeat of the last time Archduke made peace with someone.

Also, I honestly am dying to try out some of the late game stuff in an MP environment  jive

Good job there, that thing was a terror.

I'll do what I can. More units are on the way to your west coast.
