Turn 71

I played this morning but didnt have much time to writte the report. 

Mjmd brought an axe from other city and spotter one this turn on Ravena, there is no way we can procede, i asked for peace adn retreated. He also settled his 9th city, its crazy ahead of us, so i thought the only way we can compete is if we start crazy whiping and making a huge army vs ruff and take his 3 cities soon.

   

The settler is on spot and next turn will settle the filler one, the island one will be one turn after.

       

Demos and graphs, our chance is that mjmd is crap on economic right now, so if we get into machinery straight way we have an option i think. But leave writting and currency i think it might not be an option.

Turn 72

So we are in peace again, mjmd tried some diplo and i didnt answer back, im not sure if i want him to feel safe in our border.

       

Also we created Lingonberry, i had no clue about this fruit so it has been nice to meet. I looked in google and it seems its called "Arándano rojo" in spanish, Arándano means Blueberry as i said some post ago, so the literal translation would be "red blueberry" it sounds nice on my head. I never taste it, now i have the need.

I gave that city the forest deer so it cant grow fast, and started building the dun to be as safe as possible asap, then granary.

   

I ve been doubing in what to build next in several cities and i came to workers. Im not sure since we need to grow cities to work more cottages but i dont really want to keep getting expenses with axes and archers. I think we have a bit drown the economy so i slowed down the barracs of the capitol to grow a cottage and i think i will do the same in pomegranate afterwards, we need gold right now, i dont know how mjmd can still get money with 9 cities and farther cities than us, also with no economic trait. So i think the plan is get HBR and then see, if mjmd seems to be friendly then i would try to get currency, otherwise i would try to get machinery and turtle back limping to currency.

Mjmd:s expansion seems somewhat reckless. He has gotten more than his fair share of our borde region but crashed his eco. I think he is gambling on agg rome to save him from teching/building much military while he slowly gets the economy running with cottages.

Fish/Fish is standard diplomatic language for peaceful intention. If we want to attack before he gets praetorians we should maybe get him into a false sense of security. If we do not want to attack him early but rather slow him down we should decline to keep him guessing.

We will need more land at some point. We can either take it form Ruff or mjmd as I see it. We should also scout out mjmd:s southern border to see if there is tension there and thus a potential ally for us.

I agree with an economic focus for now. We can not do much on either front until we have better units. I would emphasize growing our cities over getting more fillers out for now so that we can reach key techs faster. We will see how our economy looks after the osland city.

I knew the fish vs fish and i feel the second will happen and thats why i didnt want to send it back. I dont want him to feel that safe, i dont plan any war soon, unless we can make something vs ruff. The thing im wondering is what to build on cities. I ve been thinking on mids for failgold, but not sure if blueberry or the capitol. But what to do on pomegranate? maybe a dun for safety? but that will be only 2-3 turns, i dont know, if we had currecy i would put wealth. Do we need something i am not seeing?

We settled Gooseberry and it buffed a bit our gold income. I leave here the money advisor and you can compare witht he previus turn, as a resume, better income and a bit more of expenses but we win more than expense.

   

Also making barracs to grow and... i missplayed when bringing the warrior to Gooseberry i somehow selected 2 as a mistake and we are unhappy at the capitol so we are losing 1 turn on the capitol.

   

The bad news are that ruff can see what are we teching, so i changed into writing to not giving him info this soon about we are getting HBR. So i plan to get a bunch of axes instead of HA to take his copper city and then make HA to take the other 2. I hope when we try to get HBR he start making spears so our axes kill those easy.

We finally have our great island city and economy is looking better.

Pyramids for failgold feels like a priority. It is turn 73 and I expect it should fall turn 80-90 which means we get back on our investment quite fast. Blueberry would be a good candidate as it has good production and neither barracks nor dun. It also has 2 forests we could chop.

Taking out Ruff first definitely has merits as we can hopefully avoid a prolonged 2-way war that way. If that is the plan, a good way to achieve is to set a turn and a number of units to aim for. What do we need to take him out?

We should build more workers. There are lots of tiles to improve so it would be nice to have 10 workers for 8 cities, now we only have 6. I suggest 2-pop whipping a worker out of both pomegranate and grapes.

Okey ill log in to change the barracs of blueberry, and after the dun of both cities i ll make those workers.

Im not sure how much we need, i would guess that 7 axes and 7HA would be a decent number, but i fe just make once a "good" fight on MP and it wasnt that good either, i should have whiped more hard before the atack and i didnt, anyway how many would you make ? also its not just a matter of number, its also a matter of time, we will need more on turn 100 than turn 90 so im not sure. Also, we have not a lot of happy to whip hard.

I ve been also thinking what if we try to get into machinery asap? i mean, skiping HBR, we could atack with xbows both of them, ruf has just archers and axes/spears, and vs all of them xbows go decent. Its true that it will be expensive to tech that, so maybe we can try to get colosus to help us teching. also building forges will allow us to grow more since we got silvber and also more production and both seems nice for the atack. But it would be delayed a bit. Is a crazy idea?

Also thinking about workers i decided to make those on lemon and raspberry, those are really underdeveloped and are not growing cotages so whiping them seems better to my eyes. They both has a lot of food for regrowing fast too. On 2 turns we will get back the corn of Grapes i think, but im not sure if we are going to use it soon, we are growing cotages now and it seems more needed than corn.

Also thought about getting great wall on the capitol, there is no really good things to build after barracs and some GP points are good It can be done in just 8 turns. Otherwise i would go lighthouse, but it has alredy enough food, not sure if its worth.

Ive seen diplo of Civac and Noble and they both got and extra happy resource, fur. im a bit sad we have alredy happy cap.

As you say, the number needed absolutely depends on how fast you do it. What the right balance is there I do not know. Your basic idea of a stack of axes for his border city and a stack of 2-movers to strike deep sounds right.

It also depends a lot on how much surprise you can achieve. If he has tech visibility on us he will probably see us tech HBR which should give him some alarm. If he sees that he can't know if he is the target or mjmd though. I would at least start to prepare spears in that situation. We can try to stop that by dumping all our espionage into him but that would signal that he is our target which should make him more wary thasn just seeing HBR.

We can not stop him from seeing our power graph but what we can do is to prebuild. Building an axe or a barrack nearly to completion does not show up in our power graph. It then allows us to get a wave of units out that he will see in the graphs with a turns delay
