You're retep? Holy crap, I knew it!

Ha, I can't let this one pass. Nope! If you ever read our PB11 thread (not recommended, really), the sustained fits of irrational anger about Retep would require a level of cognitive dissonance surpassing my own abilities. I was able to keep up fake anger for a weeks or two in Brick's recent WW game (now, with apologies!), but there's no way I could do it for months and months to fake playing and reporting a game of Civ against myself while pretending to be angry all the time about how I was (mis)treating myself. That would be some odd behavior. nod

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

We should come back one day when nothing is happening and spam the lurker thread with pics of kittens, then watch all the players freaking out and coming up with reasons why the lurker thread is blowing up.

Sulla is a part of that, but the real issue is that the first 8 or so signups for this game were low-to-middle skilled players, and then nobody but lurkers considered locking the game down at that level of play before the last few slots were taken up by hardcore vets. Cue months of people (accurately) decrying the PB as a farce.

Mike signed up before Gaspar/Noble and Seven/Krill so it wasn't like he signed up to play against stiffer competiton. lol

Huh, I just realized this is true. That's surprising amount of effort maintained to keep an alt for the low playing field.

Hope this debacle hadn't affected you too much Ichabod. Not fun getting caught in ambiguous territory like smurfs.

I'm staying as game admin. Regarding the smurf accounts, I won't do anything. The players can solve it by themselves later.

So, can we talk about this game instead of the alt-account stuff? Because even pre Sullla discovery, this game has actually been pretty interesting for awhile. Yes Seven is probably going to win, but if Sullla can get drafted Musketeers and Knights and run over his continent before Seven really gets his economy in shape, he's got a shot at making this thing competitive. A France that gets Nationalism way before anyone else is absolutely terrifying, and at the very least it'll be fun to watch.

(Another perpetual lurker) What's so much fun for me reading Seven/Krill and Mike's threads is the borderline disdain they seem to have towards each. Things like Mike's incredulity that Seven's economy isn't going to implode and Krill's hope that Mike is lulled into a false sense of security by his leading GNP.

On the meta/Sullla note, regardless of the ethics, playing under your real username means players can read your past reports. Sullla can figure out what Noble/Gaspar do frequently, while N/G can't do the same for Mike. Again, ethics aside, it certainly seems like that kind of informational advantage can/should turn into a material one.
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.

Agree with Scooter - France in the hands of "Mike" should get their continent.

It's going to be very interesting to see the vertical vs horizontal play out both in the hands of expert players. "Mike" of course has an advantage in knowing who he's up against and not handicapping himself.
