[Spoiler] Desperados: The Black Sword & Agent

Good stuff on retaking Sabata. Given the number of cats in Vienna, I guess you're right not to move in there. Sorry I can't be more help right now, but good luck.

Old Rome joined the war. We officially have a dogpile.

War update:
CH took my Southeasternmost city of Johnny Oro. I inflicted some damage on his attackers with catapults, but he has a supermedic Cavalry (!) there now.
Rome took the border city between them and HRE, I caught sight of their stack by boat-- same as mine, lots of knights and catapults. Outdated but there is strength in numbers. They are pushing forward so they aren't content with 1 city.
No idea what Mongolia is up to. I keep losing track of their army and they haven't taken any cities since the outbreak of war..

My Southeast:

The main counter-offensive.

My Southwest:

Praets!!!

My Northwest:

Big rifle build-up in Vienna, I'm keeping ~20 catapults poised to hit if they move into my territory.

Sorry for the lack of blood/hammer, lurkers, but there's very little I can do right now but wait til I tech to rifles myself.
I was able to take Magdeburg because the cultural borders allowed me to move & attack with siege weapons the same turn. Every other bordering HRE city has at least 2 tiles of enemy culture to cross before I can approach. Moving catapults in there would just get them slaughtered by rifles and cavalry.

Mongolia did have a capture this turn, the city of Pisa which was (last I saw) defended by a token ancient era garrison.
Old Rome's army has retreated back to the captured border city, a little smaller and slightly injured.

I saw that Vienna had emptied so I moved some of my offensive stack closer, but that let his 2-movers come in and wipe out some catapults-- what a waste!
He's got Cavalry forking Badman's River/The Bad, plus a stack of Rifles closing in on C'era Una Volta.

With remaining Cats + lots of Promo'd knights I may have a chance of taking out some of his Cavalry, but will probably lose one of those cities. C'era Una Volta is dicier, I'll wait til his rifles move closer, use a couple cats on them, then hope the culture and terrain bonuses help it hold. He could easily just bypass the city and move onto raze Il Mercenario, my Heroic Epic city, not much I can do about that.
Mongolia peaced out and I see rifles holding down Adrien's border so I think I have CH's undivided attention here, while still several thousand beakers away from rifling myself. Ah well!

Heh.. I'm a little miffed that Whosit bowed out of the war, but at least he's nice enough to ask instead of just taking what he could grab without issue.

With Whosit out of the war and Adrien's front tied up, I'm getting the full force of CH's wrath, rifles pouring in from every direction. Looks like I'll be out of the game within 10 turns.
