New Civ4 Pitboss (38?)

Okay, it looks like everything's sorted out for starts and picks in the lurker thread, and all but one player even has somewhere to post picks and pictures! The odd player out, Aretas, has a total of one post on the forum ever, asking in this thread if it was too late to join, and last visited about a week ago according to his profile page, so ... not sure what to do there.

If no one says otherwise before one of the general lurkers has an opportunity to get started (if no one does it sooner, I hope to get to it after lunch, so in an hour or two) I think we'll go with "no information about previous picks between rounds," because Mr. Cairo indicated that preference, nobody else indicated any preference (I assume Old Harry was making a joke about the player list) and this way players who reroll don't get an information advantage (e.g. on whether to keep an Ind leader based on how many people already did so the first or second time around).

I believe OT4E also expressed an interest for closed picks throughout the process, FWIW.

So what happens if Aretas does not confirm soon? Are you able to accommodate a map of 24 players, or do we need to put out an ad?

JR4 expressed an interest in playing if I am not mistaken in his pb37 postgame comments.

Did anyone PM Aretas?

I PMed him re: the spoiler threads yesterday.  But having JR4 on stand by would probably help out our map team if they have been preparing for 25 all this time.

Thanks for the things! nod

Is there a deadline on the first round picks?

I'd guess the deadline right now is, "sometime after Aretas returns or another player takes over and creates a thread so we have someplace to post their start."

Also if anybody didn't get picks and a start, or got a broken image link or anything, please post and let us know!

First, thank you very much to the map committee. Seriously, it's really amazing that you give your time to build and balance a map for a game that you'll appreciate primarily as psychotically bloodthirsty vicarious bystanders.

Second, regarding pick rules:

I assume that just like we can't hold on to a leader in hopes of civ synergy, we also can't hold on to the civ, right? "Decide to keep" means decide to keep permanently?

(For what it's worth, I'm in favor of not being able to hedge and hold.)
There is no way to peace. Peace is the way.

Sweet, all thanks to the mapmakers!  Dance

I presume this at Monarch difficulty, right?  What size is the map (in game terms, not dimensions)?

Has the mod version we are using been confirmed?
