I tested the swap from simultaneous turns to sequential turns today and can now answer Cornflakes open questions.

(November 26th, 2020, 11:03)Cornflakes Wrote: Is the swap from simultaneous to sequential made mid-turn? What is the turn order for sequential, player order in the save?

To avoid problems with double spending of resources, etc the swap should be done as last act in turn X-1. The turn ending order in turn X-1 can be done at will but I suggest you to fixup any turn order problems due wars, etc at least in this round.

After the change to sequential turns, the turn order will made by the player id.

(November 26th, 2020, 11:03)Cornflakes Wrote: What happens if someone has already ended turn?

With sequential turns, the player Y+1 will be set active after player Y
ends his turn. So the answer is: All players after Y could move twice if they had already made their turn before.
If we synchronize the swap with the end of the previous round, the problem disappears.

(November 26th, 2020, 11:03)Cornflakes Wrote: Does their production and tech process immediately? Does their production and tech process whenever the everyone before them in turn order has played?

After the swap, tech, production, etc will process immediately.

=> I think the only problems are contradicting turn orders and it is up to you to resolve them manually before the swap will be activated.
Maybe you could already start with the rule that the player ids had to be respected during war declaration. (I think this would be too restrictive and could be exploited.)

If you want swap, the last open player should pause the game after this turn and send me a PM.

The allure of a RtR sequential PB is too strong, I can't pass it up. Count me in unless you prefer 5 players only for speed.

Great, welcome! Sequential pitboss should be fine with 6. And with that it's five o'clock the 30th somewhere and we can close signups smile Need preferred play windows to establish player order for when we convert to sequential.

I'll steal Seroda's format for the settings/rules:

Settings/rules to vote on:
- advanced start ancient era / normal ancient era
- City gifting: banned / unrestricted / restricted to 1 city per peace treaty
- Unit gifting: allowed / banned by game setting
- Map trading: allowed (at writing in RtR) / banned by game setting
- Barbarians: on / off
- Cylindrical / Toroidal
- Map: mirror / non-mirror
- Map size # land tiles/player: tiny 60-80 / small 80-100 / standard 100-120 [I am flexible and fine with any map size option presented. I have no interest in a larger map]

Fixed settings
- Normal game speed
- Monarch difficulty
- Unrestricted leaders
- No technology trading
- No vassal states
- No tribal villages
- No random events
- True AI Diplo

Fixed rules:
- Mod: Latest RtR [5.1.1.x]
- Map: Pangaea, or alternative script/custom which results in a single landmass for all players and the majority of the land tiles.
- snake pick
- spies & missions allowed (as modified by RtR)

Let me know if I missed anything essential in the rules/settings.

Charriu added two new options for barbs, no barbarian ships and no barbarian cities, which should make playing with barbs on slightly more tolerable.

Upon further reflection I will back out. My reasons for being wary about signing up still stand snd I don't want to end up with too much going on at the same time. So everyone should answer the settings with a 5-player game in mind.

- Unit gifting: allowed / banned by game setting (i'm okay with an occasional unit gift here or there, but if people are legit worried about players mass-gifting armies/settlers then we might as well just ban it)
- Map trading: allowed (at writing in RtR) / banned by game setting
- Barbarians: on / off
- Cylindrical / Toroidal (no strong opinion either way)
- Map: mirror / non-mirror (imo this goes hand in hand with map trading. If it's a mirrored map then what's the point of banning map trading?)
- Map size # land tiles/player: tiny 60-80 / small 80-100 / standard 100-120
