Since we have some new / newer players here are some notes on categories:
-Map Type - Usually the mapmaker just does whatever they want so we start off with an almost useless vote category! Still might influence a smidge.
-Map Size - this is one where if you've played a lot of games or lurked a lot of games you have more of an idea. A lot of people have already stated some kind of medium size map not too big and not too small, but feel free to express stuff.
-Pick method - Charriu has a whole bunch here: https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=9588 . PB53 I think we also just did a large pool assign instead of pure random. I do like PB59 style or PB53 if we ever get above 10, but I voted snake. Snake is definitely the most popular for this size of game, but feel free to vote for whatever.
-Difficulty - About the lowest we go on Realms is Monarch. Most games are played on monarch or emperor, but feel free to vote for whatever.
-AiDiplo vs True AI Diplo - AiDiplo has a very limited set of interaction. True AI Diplo is exactly what you see in a single player game and gives more options. True IA Diplo is the usual. You could also vote full diplo, but that is usually its own pitboss type these days.
-Map trading - yes / no
-No score mod - Basically PBSPY, which we use for turn notifications / pitboss management, normally gives you a lot of information that technically is calculable with score on, such as points for cities founded/lost, techs, wonders, ect. The most important in my opinion is the pop points. The reason being if people are whipping a bunch everyone can see. This is a disadvantage to an attacker as possible defenders have more notice. As a lot of you haven't played a game on Realms, feel free to ask questions about this one if you have. When I was a green playing with pbspy score on added a lot of questions.
-City count tied to espionage - this is only if you vote for no score mod to be on. Basically if yes you need demo visibility via espionage to know how many cities enemies have (vs being able to look in trade screen in a normal game for number).

City Trading - If we vote for, please don't be a dick and just give cities ect. I kind of like this on as a way for "border adjustments", but again vote however.

I would say that even with city trading on, the etiquette rules forbids stuff like gifting away to a third party cities that someone else was about to conquer. As you say, don't be a dick.

Just some feedback for future votings. Maybe instead of asking for map type like Donut, Continent, Highlands etc. it would be better to ask if the map should be:

- Blob (like PB59 where everybody has a clearly defined territory)
- Natural (no clearly defined territories between players

and if the map is:

- land-based (ships are rather unimportant)
- water-based (ships are an important factor)

I feel like Blob and Natural are kind of the same thing. Maybe "set/fixed" or "natural/blob"

Well what I meant to point out is the difference in areas like:

PB59, PB60

vs

PB61, PB62

In the first two every player has a clearly defined area for him to settle. In the latter there is no real pre-made border between areas for players to settle. How we call these difference is up for debate, I just used blob and natural for it.

but, id be more likely to say "this is a natural blob map" vs "This is a defined set area map" ect

Idk. All i do know is im not a fan of pb59/60 set areas.

I honestly don't care how we call these things as long as everybody knows which is which. smile

But I agree "set area" is a better term for PB59/60.

So, for what I have in mind for the map, you have two main options on map-type: Lakes or islands. Ie, something like PB54 or PB62.
Playing: PB74
Played: PB58 - PB59 - PB62 - PB66 - PB67
Dedlurked: PB56 (Amicalola) - PB72 (Greenline)
Maps: PB60 - PB61 - PB63 - PB68 - PB70 - PB73 - PB76

So you are making one map and invert it depending on lake or island. wink Very clever of you.  lol
