Fish is hooked up. Second work boat on the way, due t18

With all my warrior talk, we really don't have a lot to worry about yet. Assuming a worst-case scenario of 2h start and a first ring wet corn the first worker will be 12 turns. 7 turns to build the warrior while growing and then another 12 turns to reach us in the capital - so as long as the warrior is out by turn 30. And probably not even that soon becuase it's unlikely he has that good of a start.

I'm not the only fishmonger out there.

I had an epiphany last night: EXP gets half priced granaries. Playing so much RtR has always gotten me to associate half priced granaries with PRO (and yet I'm playing PRO in 65 so I really should know better). So I went back and looked at starts again, this time with an early granary in mind. Obviously a fast granary is going to be what enables getting out settlers faster, since we're looking at the whip for most of our early production. And if I go for Pottery right after Bronze Working, I can land it by t30. This dovetails pretty nicely with my original starting plan - whipping out the first settler as fast as possible - because now I can use that overflow and a chop to get the granary up right away and regrow very quickly.

But hey, all this will be moot when Copper shows up in that one patch of grassland at the capital.

No updates because we have a lot of boring turns.  Still building the work boat, still size 2.

I can report that we have graphs on Gavagai

We already knew he had a coastal start, so it looks like he built a work boat the same way we did: 1f2h tile until borders popped and then a 0f3h tile after. But he went for the first-ring coastal clam/crab, and then has also stayed on size 1. So a work boat > worker start, and his worker will be out end of t20. So the earliest a warrior from Gav could show up would be in the mid 30s.

Gav and I are also #1 and #2 in power for the game right now.  Which means nobody else opened Bronze Working.

Commodore's scout found us a few turns back. I can see Gavagai has also met him; also, Gavagai is not minding his EP distribution as he is putting 2 points/turn into both Commodore and myself. So I'm matching, putting 2 points apiece into my neighbors so I can keep graphs with Gav while slowly gaining with Commodore.

We finished our work boat end of last turn, and hooked up the clam by the capital.

One turn on a warrior as we grow to 3, start the worker once we hit 3, revolt to slavery after BW is done, and then whip the worker on t25 with the overflow finishing the warrior the turn after. Then we whip out a settler, with that overflow plus a chop going into one-turning a granary. However, if copper appears in that one unforested tile then I will need to revisit this portion.

#1 in food and gnp. It's all downhill from here.

Oh wow, I almost called it! lol

Turn not finished yet. I'm 99% sure I'm going to revolt into Slavery and whip the worker still, but now it seems like City #2 needs to go claim the Copper & Sheep - or is it still better to get the quick granary? Anyway, goign to look that over a bit before making a decision.

The first sign of a map edit: everybody seems to have copper 2 diagonal of their position. Which means Commodore scores big in his decision to move his capital as he now has his Copper within his BFC.

I think I stick with my plan of Pottery next. As I said before, it's the 3rd and 4th cities that matter more than the 2nd. However, that Copper is now the best tile I have vision on and so I probably need to settle where I can work it with city #2. Only issue is I can see literally 5 different city locations that all have their merits. Maybe I stick with my original plan of 3S of the capital and share the crabs there while we wait for the capital to pop borders. Or I could settle the plains hill southeast of the copper and still be able to share the crabs, but the capital will need to build the work boat - however the 2nd city will be able to work the copper straight away. This also loses the free city trade route.

The simplest is to settle between the copper and sheep. I rather like this, and I'm leaning towards it - even if I won't be able to improve the sheep until turn 45. Alternatively, I was already thinking about putting city #3 on the hill 2S of the sheep so that we are settling on top of a hill to take advantage of having skirmishers. I could stick with this plan, or move it up to city #2 because we aren't going to have the tech for the Sheep until the 40s anyway.

Oh, I think I forgot to revolt to Slavery. No matter, it just needs to happen before t24.

I could have not edited and left you with none  lol

These random maps really hate copper anywhere close to people.

There are just too many things i need to research: Agriculture and Hunting for the resources in the far west; Animal Husbandry for the sheep and to uncover the horses in the capital; Mysticism to pop borders; Archery to unlock skirmishers. It adds another layer on top to the start. When the capital pops its borders t50 I only have time to research 3 more techs: which has me looking at Hunting, AH, & Pottery. Then 3rd ring pops.

I could either do Pottery first and leave the Sheep until that 3rd ring pop - probably settle either 3-South of the capital or the plains hill 3S1W - or I could do Hunting & AH first, settling between the copper and sheep. I think I'm leaning towards Pottery and the early granary still.
