So was your Samhain trolling was successful? Or was it just standard barb warriors that did the deed?

No idea. Timing suggests Samhain for sure tho. Have been killing frostlings in my own lands with the giants. Also elves conquering malakim. Short game LOL

1. Have you hired the priests yet? Being able to summon disposable ice elementals is very handy, and Slow can be quite useful for splitting and/or immobilizing enemy stacks.
2. Granaries are generally a poor investment: only 20% boost in food stored, and there's usually not much whipping in this mod.
3. Monuments are a very costly way to pop borders; one of the hard lessons I learned in my early MP games was to stop building them everywhere by default. It's difficult to pop borders, especially for an agnostic leader, but there are other paths (artist specialists, build culture, captured animals, Hope spell). Sometimes you're just better off working the first ring.
4. What's the diplomatic situation? Do you have any friends or enemies?
5. The other three players are all very good at this game, and can be expected to come up with clever plays and unexpected moves.
6. I always have a very hard time distinguishing resources unless the resource markers are turned on.
7. Beware of too many roads. There are lots of very mobile units in this game, and someone with the Raiders trait and elven workers can shock you with how far they can move into your territory.
8. It's usually better in this game to focus on one, or at most two, lines in the tech tree. As tempting as it is to try to do everything, the best units are deep in the tech tree. Your traits favor magic units, so concentrating your research there is usually the best play.

Ty for all the info, unfortunately I am such a lazy forum poster. I don't suppose I can forward you the turn to your email to examine? 2 more players got gutted, so it's basically justy me and the Svartalfar left, with me somewhat behind them, and particularly behind on next unit choice. I communicate more consistently on discord (same username). I'm in PBEM and pbem-type matches for three different games (Age of Wonders, civ4, and dom5), several for each, so I generally make only very modest effort in a given match; but I'd love to put some thought into this one while the opportunity yet remains.

Will check this thread and hopefully will remember to make posts next turn.

Frankly, I wasn't expecting a lot of reporting based on your past games. If it's a choice between having someone who plays turns promptly and someone who's a great writer, I'll always take the former. The ideal is both, of course, but everyone has to decide how he's going to spend his own time.

If you want to email me the game state, I can take a look (rbdavev9 with the "don't be evil" guys), or you can just attach the save game to a post.

I tried loading that file on two different computers and got a load error late in the process on both machines.
