[PB72] Xist10 plays far to home

I "think" i would have settled west of the capital stealing the wheat to grow and whip a monument for the pigs.

With your current choices, id personally go north of the rice.

East is a good point. Still, settler was north of the HS, so I will settle north.

Aetryn meet. I start with a workboat, I have a worker to farm the rice.

After 16 turns a new update.

We have Turn 47, I'm relativ comfortable in my position.
But I think, we could get a early war.

Tech first. I tried a religion and I founded one this turn. The second religion was founded this turn too.
Next tech ? I'm unsure between  AH, Masory-(Oracle) or IW.
I think AH first, after that possible iron working.

Aetryn has an unescorted worker and a unescorted settler in the valley between our empires.
I moved a warrior on 2-2 of the pigs. Maybe I can snipe a worker ?
This could be a argument for IW. Actual 10 turns a I need to save 3 more turns. But even skirmishers have problems with praets.

I found a new city west of Rome, the next settler is finished in 3 turns. I'm not sure, but maybe a could whip the settler for 1 POP. But the settler is to late to denied aetryn the spot, if he settle aggressive and if not, 2 turns saved isn't very good.
I started to mine the copper and hunt the elefants.

Very interesting too: I have a "save" westcoast.

Big question: where should I plan my cities ?
I exspect to get the corn/pig/sheep row, maybe even a city row further north.
First plan: Desert tile fish-7, sheep-6 and southern pigs-6
But I have no idea where i should place the corn city. I think corn-8 ? corn 8-7 seesm attractive too (plainshill).

The east is interesting. crabs-6 iis one of two places, where i can work the crabs. But crabs-9-6 doesn't allow corn-2.
I can think to move the corn-2 city to corn-6, but this would make the marmor city worse. marmor-6 has no food, marmor-6-6 has the fish, but no city to build the workboat.
So marmor-3 and corn-2.
Further east I'm a bit unsure.
Rice-9 is the plainshill on the river.
I can image to settle on the southern gold, this would allow a city on rice-2. But this would be more or less a fill city.

Furthermore I think fish-2 or the plainshill fish-2-2

And to add this here:
password is Anfänger, if you want to take a look ingame, SD.

I don't like the city. Maybe i can raze with the warrior, but aetryn saw it.
Research towards praets. I will wait one turn to collect gold, but than...

Well im not a fan of your 3rd cities placement. We werent hurting to get that copper online ESPECIALLY with religion dropping in our 2nd city. Should have planted north to secure that pigs. Also in that last image, there is no need to explore that hill, you can see from the tile bleed that those 2 tiles are Mountains. Id declare and try and block any reinforcement with the scout. Try and raze with the warrior, get some axes. Seeing as you didnt settle for the pigs to the west......... i dont see a reason not to go for IW followed by AH rather than the other way around.

I thought a bit about the 3rd city. 1 tile further north makes a small city copper-2 possible. And during the turn I founded the city, I only started to research meditation, so I wasn't sure If I got the religion - If the other player researched the cheaper meditation instead of polytheismus, I don't think I would get the religion. So this city gave me copper 3 turns early ?
And I plan a city pig-6, with is only possible with the actual placement of Cumae. And rice isn't much worse than pigs ? A city direct at the mapborder isn't that good too ?

The explore is something to do in 20 turns ? I like to know if there is another food ressouce. I forgot that I see a tile more than last turn.

You think I should declare next turn ? Problem, the scout is at 0,5, so I don't expect him to win a fight. With full strength, I would try to block the foresthill, but only with half strength ?
And thank to the scout I don't expect aetryn not to have reinforcements ready. He had 5 turns to reinforce the city ?

the scout is to see if anything is coming and to block any extra workers coming to road to the city. Its not meant to win a fight. If all he has is warriors, then any damage the scout does IN a fight helps with our c1Warrior. Just make sure it isnt attacking across a river. Also, side note: any way to use East/west/south/north/ect instead of the numpad for directions? I only ask because my keyboard doesnt have a numpad and cardinal directions are far easier to follow for myself.

Fair on the meditation ect. Seeing as there was many turns between updates, i wouldnt have known when you settled vs research. Rice is frankly, one of the worst foods. Only slightly beating Sheep? (im sure krill can correct me tongue ) Planting closer to the pigs makes for a stronger city. Especially with a monument whip. While the copper tile is good, i wouldnt have seen a need for it early.

Mali however does appear to want to move into what is rightfully Roman territory... so we must take what is rightfully ours! The goal is to hope they dont have archery already. Skirms are one of the few units that still trade well with Praets. You dont want him to get that city filled with them. I feel like i gave you some of my luck. If they had almost any other civ (expect babylon?) id feel really comfortable with your position.

N/E/S/W maybe, If I think. Numpad is standard over at civforum. I have to look out, that I don't use the smileys (?) :4prod: or :4wirt: in my reports.

And yes, rice isn't very good, only +1 :4food: (sorry, food) with farms.
STill, with irrigation 5 food, the same as the hillpig.
Sheeps get +2 food (but +0 from the pasture), cows only +1. Better because I get prod or wirt, but only a bit.

Block a worker is a good point. Can I declare next turn in the first half ? We played in the same time, I ended my turn before Aetryn finished his turn.

And I forgot: Aetryn has bronzeworking, but I don't know if he has copper. I think, he could have whipped a axe this turn.

Hill pig does get the production from being on a hill.

Its rough, but since they finished their turn after (because weirdos dont finish their turn in 1 go...) you should be fine to declare.

This isn't so simple, we where online at the same time.

But this is irrelevant, the next turn started during my night.
I ended 49 last - and didn't play turn 50.

And the worker blocks my scout

The east is interesting.
