[PB75 Spoiler] Ginger and Civac's Outside Context Problem

Met ljubljana in the west. the Yellow was Zulu not Egypt. They are close than I thought. Previously I assumed that that super rich dye river had to be a midpoint bc surely pindicator wouldn't give it all to one player (which is what spurred that "map big" complaint), however that might just be Dreylin's land if he's as close as Zulu

currently holding ending the turn as worker moves are pending on a settling decision

If we dont settle west corn now and instead settle the better but slower south corn, I think we probably wait for a border pop from the NE city to work that corn, and then save the corn-only city for filler. Its the kind of swiss cheese cherry-picked expansion you can get away with on big maps

Didn't think the oddly forward copper locations would be a big deal with the large tile count, but we can see a forward settle from ljubljana. Still on his side of the meridian but my paranoia is racing. Convenient scouting warrior for us leaves some... options

The decision is do we go for white dot, which can self reliantly produce axes at a border location without trade connection
or do we go for the original orange dot plan?

I'd hate to delay this much food, especially with convenient workboat from the surplus production in the second city, and my greed is firing on all cylinders  pimp

Relevant knowledge is that Ljubljana is Agg Zulu and we have only horses. There is other copper in play but would require extensive roading to supply our main cities with copper so they can build axes.

I've leaned both over-secure and under-secure when judging how much mil to build ancient era, and would love your input Civac.
Also do we reveal our presence with the warrior? Fortify on a hill overlooking the city to show interest "hey we're watching this"? or quietly slip away? I'd usually value giving warnings but sometimes they get ignored  mischief

Tokugawa sent threatening diplo in response to us.... settling our copper? Can't tell if Toku is crazy or Pindicator is for putting copper there

Either way I'm not super amused but confident we can hold unless he thoroughly throws the kitchen sink at us.

to be fair I like the poverty of the map and the difficult Cre dotmap, it takes a brave mapmaker to make the players actually think about how they want to play the game lol

Strategic safety is a bit of a pet peeve tho bc of how forcing it is.

Here we see our border with Zulu.
Nice he still hasn't gone for copper even with 4 settlers
Except for the north in Kirishima, it's pretty baren. Now taking Kirishima is tempting because its two strong tiles and also a fish on the north coast. Additionally, it would allow us to settle the horse and close a ring around the lake. Having a lake splitting your front cities is an unfortunate strategic deficit. Had a similar situation in pb66 vs Amicalola. However, unlike that game my land does not appear to be at a massive food deficit relative to Ljubljana.
That being said, while the temptation exists, the fact of civ is that ancient wars are good for little, and Toku is a pain to slog through. The distance is too big and the lands too poor for catapult action. So total victory is probably not possible for many turns yet.
Partial victory is also probably out of the question bc while Kirishima is a very good city, I doubt it can self-supply the F/H for troops (and commerce for their upkeep) necessary to defend against the wrath incurred for seizing it.

Hadrianopolis has something of an identity crisis that I'd like to resolve, being the site of both strong commerce and strong hammer potential. On one hand while we have big food sites, we lack consistent production centers for wonders or HE, but the poverty of the map makes me think that where a cottage is possible, it gets built.

Settle SW of stone, chop forest into monument on settle. Hardbuild granary using stone while border expands, grow to 2 on pig with granary aöready done.

Switch to Fall from Heaven; grassland farms are 4 food tiles, so you could have plenty of food if you settle S of stone.

This would merely exchange the stone city problem with the getting invaded by demons problem.
