SPOILERS - PBEM6 Lurker discussion thread

Bobchillingworth Wrote:I stopped updating my PBEM 3 thread back when I was playing in that game in part because I got so few lurker comments that I didn't think that anyone cared much about what I was doing.

Well with 18 ongoing games that's probably true from time to time, but typically the game situation will change and suddenly lurkers are keenly interested, but the thread's gone silent. It could even be spoilerish at that point to start asking for updates.

One simple remedy is to play with a teammate so you have to update for their benefit. The downside is that the thread gets cluttered with intrateam communication. See our PBEM13 thread.
I have to run.

Yeah, the reality is the majority of what's going on you can't talk about, so there's not much to do other than type a "I like your thread" comment. I've written a book in our PBEM12 thread, and I get a lurker comment on average once a page. Its very difficult to get people to post without spoilering.

And for the record, I did drop a line in Nakor's thread bugging him for an update. Playing with him in 2 games now, I can just tell you he's not a very chatty guy. lol
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

You were quite wrong there.
But if one isn't a ded. lurker it is quite hard to post comments without getting close to spoiling. Besides from the time needed to read carefully through everything and post really meaningfull questions in all Lurkerthreads (Nobody wants to read 20 'thanks for the Update' post)

Its obviously not fair to paint someone with this brush forever, but given his shenanigans in PB2, doesn't anyone else find it hilarious that anyone would try and set-up a unit gifting scheme with Athlete? Perhaps this is his way of trying to let everyone else back into the game. lol

Also, because it hasn't been mentioned by anyone else in here, does anyone else think the TRD ploy with Nakor to "throw off" Athlete reeks of smoke? What does he really think he's gaining with this? Its not going to make for a particularly sneaky dagger, you're just giving him more time to prepare for the attack. Just go attack your target, man.

Seven's offer to Athlete is even better for the latter than he suspects- there are still five sizable and rather nice islands out in the fog that only ocean-faring ships can reach.

Also I agree that TRD's plan is kind of dumb. Athlete can see the whole darn thing unfolding since he has units providing him visibility on the area. It's going to be pretty clear what's going on when TRD fails to actually fight Nakor and starts shifting those troops eastward. All TRD is doing is giving Athlete more turns to prepare than if he has just attacked him immediately outright. He at least should have forced Nakor to close borders with Athlete!

That fake war was indeed silly on any number of levels. It looks to me like it just gave athlete enough time to research up to Berserkers... certainly didn't fool anyone for very long. One of those things where you talk yourself into an overly complicated plan that isn't worth it.

If I were SevenSpirits, I definitely wouldn't be gifting away galleons to anyone else. That's a massive military advantage on this map, if you have galleons and no one else does. I think he could befriend athlete without having to give up such an important edge. But it could work out well too, so who knows.

Feels to me like Ruff and Nakor are both acting erratically at the moment, with no real plan in mind. Or maybe they have a plan, but aren't posting it (?) Oh well. This is SevenSpirits' game to lose right now. I predict a bloody stalemate between Reverend Doctor and athlete if none of the other players intervene... which they very well might.

Somehow Athlete has a knack to make his big announcements just before everything breaks down. Reminds me abit of a certain Iraquian spokesman lol
