So with 3 warriors nearby it was time to pop the graveyard.
YEEAAAAAHHHHHHH!
So I was going to build a worker when Thariss reaches size 5 and now it'll have something to do! This isn't a huge boost right away but long term this is virtually the best tech I could've popped. No plans to adopt Apprenticeship though, maybe I should give it more consideration since I actually have a healthy number of warriors again

Barb warrior as expected moved next to Sludgehome this turn, I'll have 1 warrior with 25% fortify + 25% basic city defence to counter it. This was the tradeoff of having 3 warriors near to the graveyard in case of a bad result there.
EOT saw Thariss reach size 5 (first city to do so) and complete another warrior, it'll start a worker next. The barb warrior chose to go NE and isn't a threat to cities now that my graveyard explorers are nearby. Ending turn saw the biggest score changes so far, I'm guessing 20 turns is the land score kicking in.
Hopefully we can get at least 5 turns done today, I'll try to have at least 1 screenshot by the end of it!

Diplo how I love you so, blitz session ended with me meeting both the Illians and the Clan.

Ruled over by a triumvirate of Varn Gosan, Auric Ulvil and Ravus Sol we intend to make our mark on the world!
To start of though let me just express how thankful we are to FINALLY meet someone. I thought some evil quirk of fate had left us abandoned on a island in the middle of nowhere. The Numerous barbarian cities have all just hit the mark where they are now spitting out raiding parties. If you want a POW i'm sure the warriors can capture one for you.
You expressed interest in the location of the fabled Red Dragon city, by our navigators reckoning it should be around 16 acres north of your scouts position on the hill where we first spotted you. We know this because there is only one clear passage of our landmass, guarded by a city with an azer, After traversing that and feeling happy our warrior Ice stumbled upon the Dragon a moment later and was promptly eaten.
Also please note a word of warning... I'm not sure if you have allready spotted them but a barbarian raiding party has just set of from a barbarian city Seroe Vakas. It was 2 acres west of your scout just over the mountain range and is guarded by a elephant of all things. I hope you manage to step quickly and avoid a bloody fate from these orc devils. Vakas is also the city with the Broken Squelcher.
Does your own scout or nation have any tales of interest? You are the first nation we have met and are thus the hot topic back in the Capital.

Quite flowery but also more helpful than expected, especially interesting was the revelation of death mana by the barb city, in another brief chat he definitely was under the assumption that I'd be claiming the death mana too, I saw no reason to correct him. Anyway I sent this in response...

Nice greeting! It's always good to hear from your average neighbourly Sunny Ice God kingdom.
The barbarians are indeed starting to clump some warriors together to form 'armies', fortunately the honourable back stabbers (me and my compadres) have more than enough firepower to deal with these pests. We shall assume for now that the Illians are well capable of taking care of themselves too.
Thankyou for indulging my interest on Acheron, our explorers could use some dragon skin coats and will get their hunting spears out ASAP.
As for Svartalfar tales of interest, we have little to compare with your tale of a dragon but good ol' Willy the Warrior did have to get his club dirty dealing with a meddlesome Hill Giant who reamined unnamed. We also have recent reports of Organized orc's under an orange banner being sighted to the east of our lands, little contact besides the baring of bottoms on their part has taken place thus far.

Reminds me I need to pick some kind of naming theme. Anyway an Azer + Acheron somewhat close to the Illians and Selrahc commented on having a C4 Spectre in his lands in our chat while waiting for turns.
Will put up some screenies when I get the current turn.

I'm terrible at keeping screenshot promises
Anyway news of the turn was my first cottage being built and a monument being erected in mah 2nd city. Another stack of 4 barb warriors approaches Sludgehome which is safely guarded by 5, to the west I took a chance of a single warrior of mine heroically defeating 4 more when sitting on a jungle hill across a river, unfortunately he only killed one before going down.
Mysticism due in 7 turns currently, after that I'll get some more cash to fund researching exploration and likely hunting after

Seems like a silly risk to take on that warrior. He is incredibly unlikely to kill all 4 so the most likely outcome is one barb warrior wins and promotes. Wouldn't it have been better just to move him back to a city and have them suicide?

I should have a sign attached to this thread saying "Leave your common sense here". Yup the warrior was always likely to snuff it but with all the warriors I'd been building they were starting to cost me money!

Turn 30 saw the 2nd stack of 4 barbarian warriors attempt to retake their beloved Sludgehome, all 4 defeated without loss. However they remain persistent as a new stack of 5 has appeared from the fog. Honestly when the barbs are like this, who needs a barracks or apprenticeship? It is slowing down my exploration though as I don't really want to send anymore warriors of mine to their maker just yet.
In other news I finally got around to checking the diplo screen with the Illians and the Clan, neither of them took a barb city yet.

Since its a rarity I'll start up with a screenshot
5 warriors 1 tile SW, another 1 on each of the tiles west and 3 warriors 2W 1N of the city. Hopefully I won't lose any defending but this is really stopping me getting some warriors out scouting.
Mysticism is due in 3 turns.
Ichabod is the surprised score leader now, he had a signifcant jump but I didn't see it until I ended turn so I can't look at the diplomacy window with him. Maybe he took a city too?
Selrahc on the other hand is languishing 60 points behind Ravus, has that Spectre he mentioned taken a city from him?

The stack of 5 barbarians attacked and weakened 4 of my defenders, next turn will see 4 more try their luck, including one warrior which is combat 3 thanks to my less than brilliant sacrifice off to the west. Definitely a chance I'll lose a warrior defending.
Me and Ravus had a chat yesterday about various things that included his lack of knowledge about Acheron + speculation on Selrahc's low score and Ichabod's higher than expected score. Ravus did throw out the idea that the two might be at war, if so Ichabod razed the city and got his score from other sources.
Also started naming my cities, if anyone has any suggestions for names on the theme of treachery and deceit then feel free to comment.

Another 2 turns today, hope we keep this pace up for a while.
Anyway all the action was on ending turn, 4 barbarians defeated without loss (only 1 more remains), 2 more cottages built (upto 2nd in GNP now) and my 4th worker finished in my capital. A 5th worker will complete in another turn then I'll be set to get some Elder Councils up.
Current city names
Ella Sheena (capital)
Widows Harbor (2nd city)
Forlorn Pass
I don't have any actual plans to roleplay this game but if the opportunity arises who knows?
