Another thought (and we need to beat darrel in the thread spam too imo) is that the tower of divination is a national wonder. If we get to trade the mana back and forth that makes it 2 free techs not one.
EDIT: another thought is on teams, we didnt get the option, but Malakim/Amurite(Govannon) makes for an awful lot of quick xp spellcasters

Well, in that case - we need some naming schemes, right? Why don't we work on that?

Jkaen Wrote:The other question is poppables near our borders, I am thinking:
Huts - Pop
Ruins - Pop, its a risk, but so is spawns of lizardmen
Dungeons - Leave till its safe
Graves - On the border here, skelies are not as scary if we leave them alone, but the results dont tend to be as bad either
Mega-dungeons - Leave till its safe.
Its more cautious than my usual approach, but here if you mess up its your teammates game not just yours in trouble (dont want to get mistformed again! Even if it was not me who released it)
OMG POP THEM ALL!!!!
*ahem*
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Well, had a test game -
T0 - Settle in a nice spot next to a goblin tower, don't worry as pretty sure they dont attack out if in your culture, warrior and lightbringer do a quick local explore
T3 - For the horde cast
T4 - City dies to goblin archer
Sooo, don't think I will make that mistake again!

Naming scheme:
I was trying to think of some way of linking relgion and vampires, but the only obvious way is vampire hunters, and we would run out of them pretty fast.
We could always do a theme unrelated to the game, but the last one I did (PBEM15) nobody seems to have the slightest clue about after 7 cities. So maybe I go too obscure.
Then playing the test game last night (briefly!) I noticed that our starting alignments were good and evil, which got me thinking about a scheme based on that.
For example our starting cities could be Ying for me, Yang for you. Then following cities Axis/Allies, Rebels/Empire etc
Does mean as we expand at different speeds we will have some pairs incomplete but that should be ok
Did you have any other ideas?

Honestly, I like this one. It's related to our civs, but not too esoteric. And it'll tend to lend itself to pronouncible, memorable names. Heaven/Hell, Law/Chaos, Rockies/Yankees; there's got to be loads of combinations that will work. Any lurkers want to weigh in with examples?

I can think of like a million sports versions of this, but that's probably not as fun lol
I like the theme, definitely

Oh, seems we did end up with a casualty of waiting to set up our thread - Squareleg got spoiled by Darrel, so we lost him as a ded lurker

So what would you pick instead of the orcs, I see arguments for balseraph, grigori, lanun and luchpin. Would probably go with the clowns myself

To go with the Amurites...honestly probably Tasunke of the Hippus, but since they've offered to be nice about their next pick...I'm going to guess Doviello, actually. At least since losing For the Horde was a dealbreaker, I think they still want an early rusher. Balseraphs are nice, but they're a) an arcane focused civ and b) one that benefits from picking one spell and making all their nodes related. Hence they don't go with the Amurites that well.
Maybe Grigori. Probably not Lanun, that'd leave them very squishy in the early game. But maybe Luchiurp if they follow some of Square Leg's tricks from PBEM5 - I was really impressed at how fast he made it to wood golems, if only he'd been facing anyone but the Zombie horde, I think that would have put him in a commanding position.
Or, actually - in their shoes I might stick with the Orcs anyway; expansive Warrens-boosted settler spam is something to be feared!

We will do it today.
And - they better have an early rush civ, otherwise they're target numero uno!
