Need for Speed: Ichabod & Ravus chasing the Dream

And if we have enough Yeats fans we could allways go with that as a naming scheme smoke

Me likey, though I have to confess I'm more of an Austin Clarke fan. There is just something about the traditional Irish poetry constructions which make my knees go weak.

Edit: I don't think the Hyborem world spell (where they take over one of the 3 best AV cities) works in multiplayer. We'll have to check it.

Well, brazilian literature is nothing compared to the english literature, but let me try and spread it a little bit. This is one of my favorite pieces of brazilian poetry:

Sonnet of Fidelity
-Vinícius de Moraes

Above all, to my love I'll be attentive
First and always, with care and so much
That even when facing the greatest enchantment
By love be more enchanted my thoughts.

I want to live it through in each vain moment
And in its honor I'll spread my song
And laugh my laughter and cry my tears
When you are sad or when you are content.

And thus, when later comes looking for me
Who knows, the death, anxiety of the living,
Who knows, the loneliness, end of all lovers

I'll be able to say to myself of the love (I had):
Be not immortal, since it is flame
But be infinite while it lasts.

Sooooo, does this mean we are going for a cultural win?

lol

It doesn't.

Guild of the Nine/Undercouncil Test:

Good news and bad news.

Bad news, the Guild of the nine only works in the nation that built it... ergo to get Hippus mounted Mercenaries the Hippus will need to build it.

Good news, the Undercouncil gimick of just one allied team running it to activate it works. The Kuriotates will need to adopt the Esus religion to get out of good to run it, but we had planned on them running it anyway.

REALLY want Mr Yellow & Thoth to just pick a team... it's hard to start thinking about the future when one team just has a slot open...

Personally I'd have told them "tough luck" in the first place. They made a bad choice which had nothing to do with anyone else, and they should live with it.

It is a case that something that was easy enough to test was missed (or never tested for) in the first place, now they are doing everything in their power to make the best pick for the opponents (and IMO gaming the system).

The other option would have been forcing them to keep the Amurites and let the GM pick the second civ. Either way they made their choice, and now should not be allowed to gain an advantage because it was a bad one.

I suppose I myself was sympathetic because It took me awhile to figure out the flaws in picking the elves...

Thoth has picked the Lanun... That seems strange to me. The only synergy is if lanun does the teching and amurite does the mages. Lanun also has raiders... I guess it works. It makes me think they will definatley go for Octopus Overlords.

Speaking of the elvish flaw, Team Dwarf & Elf have asked to redo one of their picks due to Thoth picking. yikes:neenernee I think any sense of order has gone out of this.

I guess they will get rid of the dwarves and pick the dark elves? That would be most logical...

I think Hanna was picked based on the traits, rather then the civ. I wouldn't be surprised if they ignore the water related theme of the Lanun. And we won't be having pearls for the Kurio jewelries, unfortunately.

So, Ravus, do you want to play the Kurios or the Hippus? I don't mind playing either of them, so you can choose which one you prefer. We could also factor the turn other in the decision? Which would be better to go first, the Kurios or the Hippus? I'll sleep on this thought and try to give some insights tomorrow.

Good to know about Undercouncil! That's certainly worth a beeline. We should also test the Esus Shrine bonus, if its team or player only. Having a GPro ready to build it could be a nice move. It would make attacking us a even worst choice.

#1 Rusher

With the Blight Team needing to rush for Vamps/Religion, and the new Whoopass team needing to get to Sorcery/Octopus to be useful, and now the Brutal team repicking (most likely the elves or the Elohim)...

Is it just me or are we now the only real threat in the begining of the game?

True, Fin/Rai is a beast of a trait set. The Lanun themselves have no significant bonuses apart from teching so to start they can boost the Amurites and at the end the amurites can spread magic to the raiding lanun.

A shame that this means we are not the only Raider Player.

I don't mind either! They are both awesome nations... So I guess it comes down to Builder/Raider fun... I do like the raiding, but I also like the idea of wielding The Esus Archmage and coming into play endgame with 4 Centuer Lancers and 4 Shadow Riders. hmmm decisions decisions.

You've done well micromanaging as the Khazad but we both want to get a bit blood thirsty. So I guess I will offer to play the peaceful Kuriotates. Keep the tech high, Get the four super cities etc.

I'd assume the Hippus should go first. Better aggression and gives the Kuriotates longer to decide where to place the first super city.

The Undercouncil gimick is VERY good... I'm hoping with so many team tricks to check and test that none of the others realise this one. Probably unlikley as the Elves seem to have cottened on to that flawed team aspect allready. So they will probably have tried out others.

It's a Great Prophet OR Great Merchant that can build the Nox shrine... so that should make it easier to get if we grab markets on the way there. I'm thinking both nations should grab Great Sages first for Kuriotate Acedemies, but after that one of us could go Great Prophet / Great Merchant working to boost out another one in time...

Pagan Temple Great Prophet & Market Great Merchant should speed it up enough...

So;
Worker Techs, Horse Riding, Code of laws for hippus economy, Trading, Undercouncil, (overcouncil as well?), Horse Archers,

Seems to be our initially plan. I'm hoping the horsemen will be enough to cause choas initially. Especially since we seem to be the only threat at the start. We should leverage that for all it is worth.
