Game has started. I played first as the Barbarians. Do people want an update on what the players are doing?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

That would be nice A final overview shot of the map as the game kicks off would also be cool

What's Nakor got against settling on plains hills?

Either plains hill would cost him a (known) food resource. He did the only thing possible to get all the known food in range, and settle on t0. Seems logical...

Firstly, F5 map. Notice that everyone is connected once you have sailing. The long, silly chain of mountains connects the two land masses. Also note that everyone has to travel an equal amount of tiles to reach the barb land. Oh wait - looking at the picture, I left the mountains in the NW and SW too close the barb islands - dang nab it - I thought I edited that and moved them.
Overview of the humans land ...
And people's starting positions:
Peg
Nakor
Ellimist
Serdoa
I read the above comment and some of the players comments about Nakor passing up the plains hill and was starting to feel guilty. However, after opening the game - he had 2 plains hills that he should have been able to find easily enough (especially after he moved his settler where he did) - he could settle on either and grab both of the starting foods - feel better now.

The western players could still be closer to the barbs even if there were a gap of ocean tiles - if they capture the barb city on the island and expand its culture, work boats can move through ocean tiles within culture.
Also, it looks like the chain of mountains touches the barb homeland on its upper left, short-circuiting that loop to the southeast, was that intentional?
Do you want to restart and fix these before the players get too far?

Do you want to restart and fix these before the players get too far? Ah, yes - well spotted. No, that wasn't intentional. What do lurkers think - a quick reboot or just let it roll?
I'm also starting to think that I might have made the AI a bit strong. Anyone else thing the same?

My 5/8 of a (noob) vote:
Restart to fix the mountains... with the limited main blobs, that barb blob could be supremely powerful if someone gets to it early. shortcuts there are dangerous
I have no idea about how strong the AI will be, but the players signed up for something new, right? The barbs will still be relatively passive cuz they're on islands, i think it'll be fine.
