I'm not seeing Seven complain about the game; he hasn't so much as said yay or nay to his playing experience. His issues have been with how Blizzard has done an awful job at Customer Service. I have to agree with him, because it hasn't been limited to just this issue. I wish I had the link, but my all time favorite so far has been reading where someone had an item deleted from their stash -- a hell staff of herding -- and the customer service response was to tell him that treasure goblins had stole it so he better get busy chasing them down in the game. That's just one example; I've had my own difficulties with their authenticators and the (lack of) service when trying to resolve those difficulties.
Anyway, the point is that comparing this site's reactions to Civ V and Diablo III is missing the mark. You don't see these kinds of complaints about Civ V, no matter how much the person may not like the direction the series went with that game.

LoL That may be true. Maybe we are too grumpy, too jaded and expects too much - especially games from franchises we love.
I think I can speak for most grumpy young men here, I for one really want these games to do good, even while we complain about it. I said D3 is a fail, not because I didn't get my money's worth in its entertainment value, it's because it could be so much more. And we have the right to expect that.
I know, I should justify my claim to D3's failure (yes, it goes beyond the balance issues) , but I have to stop playing long enough to write it up. muahahahahaha

I am not a big fan of Diablo III myself, but then I was never the Diablo II fanatic. My comment was more on the subtle change in the general atmosphere of RB which was better before CIV V and LoL came around. (LoL brings out the worst in some people on the RB TS server I can tell you, I thought I would never hear a racist rant on the forum and it is a rather boring game after 20-30 games to be honest )
I also saw Sirian pretty much shredded to bits for actually suggesting CiV V may be a decent game. Which I also think it is, it is great with Civ 4 being slightly better. Which shocked me a bit as well seeing the community back in the early Civ 4 days.
I leave you with a quote by sunrise from the current CiV 4 adventure.

I feel the threshold for what should be discussed used to be quite different, but perhaps that's just a natural outgrowth of both Civ4's age and the change in tone of this site.

The atmosphere in Gaming Table is fantastic imo, but maybe that's precisely because we aren't playing big name games with a weight of expectation there.

Not true, credit card companies aren't stupid enough to even consider trying to push anything remotely as injurious to their customers as this (wait 3 days for a purchase to go through just in case is pretty injurious) as it would destroy their whole model of business.
Oh and they are pretty quick to stop authorising payments when an unexpected pattern emerges. For example a few years ago I was holidaying in Amsterdam and was slightly short the last few days. I had been loaned my parent's credit card for such an occourance (Irish atm cards not yet usable in the Netherlands), and when I tried to use it for the second time (on my departure date) it was blocked by the bank. Moral of the story; may be a good idea to ring your credit card provider before you go on a foreign holiday.
So a) credit card companies are not stupid enough, and b) they have a better system that is also valid.

I don't have that problem. I stopped playing weeks ago. But I also don't have the problem of caring about it, either.
I tried to express some of my concerns at the Lurker Lounge, as soon as they arose. All it got me was being told to L2P. Apparently, some people there were unable to distinguish the difference between me not having fun doing something and not being able to do it -- as if one had to mean the other. But that was enough pushback for me to decide it wasn't a conversation worth pursuing.
On the other hand, I have been getting my "Diablo fix" -- something filling that urge for entertaining tactical combat with a fast pace and a good balance between simplicity and intricacy. I don't know what kind of legs this new game will have, but I've probably already put about as many hours in to it as I have in to Diablo3. My last recommendation didn't turn out so well, though, so I will hold off on talking about this other game for a while.
Civ5's expansion is out, and my 4.5 year run working on Civ5 products has concluded. I'm totally happy with the very long leash and wide boundaries I was granted for working on maps for Civ5. The new Europe map script ought to hit the spot for quite a few Civ players, for instance.
I didn't feel "shredded" in my encounters here, when Civ5 vanilla was released. Maybe it looked that way to some. But there were accusations being made about the motives and competency of the development team, which were so wrong-headed and off the mark that they warranted correction in a bad way -- but I am legally bound not to go there. Saying so was the closest I could come to correcting the record, but that drew insinuations about me being a sellout, at which point I could only withdraw, because nothing productive could come from that. I thought I deserved more benefit of the doubt than that -- especially from people here, in light of my history with RBciv -- but it didn't come. Emotions ran too high. I still don't understand where all of that came from. ... I know I directed some extreme emotion at Blizzard at one point, eleven years ago, so I can understand a post or two with anger in it. However, the anger here only seemed to grow over time, not release itself and calm back down. The more I refused to roll over and agree with every bitter word being posted about Civ5, the more I became the target of that insatiable bitterness. Well that isn't the example I set as a community leader, even in my darkest moments. I calmed down after cursing out Blizzard and had a civil discussion with one of their lead devs. We didn't see eye to eye on everything, but I wasn't making him out to be a villain. I think some (who should have known better) crossed that line with Civ5, and where did that get them? Where did it get the community? That cannot be construed as any sort of shining moment.
I may still give Diablo3 another look, somewhere in the future. But for now, in terms of the combination of how high my hopes were and how far the actual product fell short upon close contact -- D3 is as big a flop for me as Master of Orion 3 was. And that is not a condemnation I level lightly.
Everyone on my Diablo3 friends list besides my wife is still playing it often, though. So it's probably not as bad as all that -- it just isn't my thing.

Makes me wonder why people get into the game on the cheap and then complain about not getting full service.
Personally I got the game through the WoW Annual Pass and then found out that my old computer could not run it.
So here I am posting on a new system and playing the game without any problems (save for the odd system shutdown/restart) and never intending to use the RMAH anyway.
Maybe the complains come from unreasonable expectations, maybe they come from a culture of screaming-loud-enough-until-you-get-what-you-want.
Either way, I'm still having fun with D3.
When it stops being fun, I'll start on something else.
No noises.
No drama here.
D3 will just be a memory when that time comes.

FWIW, it's fixed now. "Update 6/26/12: Leveling and Act I content restrictions for unverified digital purchasers have been removed with patch 1.0.3a."

Same, I'm not going to bash anyone for recommendations.
