Micromanagement Sims/Planning

Lord Parkin Wrote:Okay, a little confused on the dropbox thing. Is the folder with the files supposed to go in the default directory, or inside the folder marked "public"? I got the following link, but it doesn't seem to convert to an image when I use [ img ] tags... suggestions?

Put them in the public.

Also, you don't need to go to the dropbox website. Now, all you need to do is right-click your file, go to Dropbox > Copy Public Link, and then put that into the [img] tags.

1NE is probably the best long term capital, but I like the look of 1N since it'd probably be the best short term site.

The less obvious drawback of 1N is that It blocks all visible plains hills from being settled on by our second city. Something to consider.

However, 887 appears to be a plains hill based on my fog reading. Not a peak as in the sandbox currently. Fiddling with the worldbuilder indicates that the hint of plains in 77 only happens if 887 and 877 are also plains. Sandbox looks good otherwise.

Will try running sims later.

How's this for a plan. Go Worker-Warrior-Granary-Warriors until size 7, then Settler, then 3-whip the settler the moment BW comes in and and overflow into a worker?

I had a quick stab at it: we got a settler out on T35. Though we'll need to settle for happiness if we're going for a whip-heavy strategy.

Hmm, settling on the Bananas would mean no levee right? Or does that lake count for levee purposes as well? (Early morning brain fart)

We're at the happy cap @ size 5 right? So letting whip anger vapourise while slowbuilding a worker, sure that's sounds like a reasonable plan. It let's us keep working as many of the FP cottages as possible while still whipping the settler (assuming the settle position). I guess that's key to success with these tech settings right?

That gets the Settler out only 1 turn sooner, at the cost of a lost of extra unhappiness and not having 2 Workers in advance of Bronze Working rolling around. Doesn't seem viable compared to the option I've simmed. But sim it out and compare, maybe I'm wrong. smile

Not unless you're the Dutch (i.e. no). However, is it really worth concerning ourselves about things that far in the future? I don't think it's even worth worrying about losing the extra food from the Banana, and that only comes in at Calendar... let alone Steam Power.

I think we're far better off planning for a guaranteed strong early game than things that we'll only start to benefit from several hundred turns in.

Haven't simmed it out, but I think settling on the bananas is the way to go. Not only do you save 2 turns on the worker, but you can also have it start farming the irrigated corn immediately.

Losing a potential plantation and levee is hardly anything... those are both waaaaay in the future. The main drawback I see is losing the plains hill sites for expansion, and it's hard to judge how bad that is without seeing more of the map. But getting an extra food and hammer at the start is huge. It also allows for more chops in the capital.

on banana is also my gut feeling

one thing to remember when debating between PH and banana is that its effectively a question of if you want +1f or +1h (and losing one turn unless you SIP, which appears suboptimal) in your capital from the get go.
