That's true, but fear not. We have overcomed worst in the past and we shall do it again (I won't show where, though).
By the way, I'm updating my thoughts and our possible picks in the post above.

Krill: Asoka (Org, Spi) of Netherlands (Agriculture, Fishing)
Kyan: Suryavarman (Exp, Cre) of Germany (Hunting, Mining)
Serdoa: Julius Caesar (Imp, Org) of Viking (Hunting, Fishing)
Seven: Zara Yaqob (Cre, Org) of Celts (Hunting, Mysticism)
Thoth:
Ichabod:
Remaining picks:
Alexander (Agg, Phi)of China (Agriculture, Mining)
Augustus (Imp, Ind) of Babylon (Agriculture, The Wheel)
Lincoln (Phi, Cha) of Aztecs (Mysticism, Hunting)
Louis XIV (Cre, Ind)of Persia (Agriculture, Hunting)
Genghis Khan (Agg, Imp) of France (Agriculture, The Wheel)
Napoleon (Cha, Org)of Rome (Fishing, Mining)
Charles de Gaulle (Ind, Cha)of England (Fishing, Mining)
Justinian (Spi, Imp)of Spain (Fishing, Mysticism)
I think Louis is the best pick remaining, so Thoth will probably pick that. If he doesn't pick an IND leader you should pick Louis in a heartbeat.
I have to run.

My gut feel is that Thoth will pick Napoleon.
Please, be right, my gut feel!

Well, Thoth picked an IND leader, but not Louie. De Gaulle being IND/CHA, he'll go for Stonehenge for sure, I think. That could potentially leave other wonders for us.
I would prefer not playing with an IND leader, but maybe there's no other option. How do you think CRE/IND compare with ORG/CHA in these settings, Novice? It's prince, toroidal, 36x36. is the maintenance high enough in these settings to make ORG a powerful pick?
I guess we could choose Louie and not plan to build any wonders. Creative is probably the best trait left in the pool. IND would just be a help while building forges and National Wonders. Augustus have a nice leader/civ pair, but IMP can't compete with CRE, I guess.
How do you feel about Justinian, Novice? I think Spain starting techs are prohibitively bad for us, so it's not really an option. And I'll probably fail with SPI.
I think going for Louie and early pottery is the best thing we can do. The starting techs allow this, our start allow this and our traits too (since we can skip the religious tree for a long time). I think I should aim to remain competitive in the game while the others kill themselves. This opening seems the best for it.
Help me, Novice!!

Napoleon is decent but his techs are bad. Cha Praets are nice too. Warring is good for not finishing last but maybe not for winning.
I would still pick Louis.

Moving the scout didn't reveal any food, so I deducted that my second food resource was to the east. I had to settle in place to get it. That's what I did.
Non-irrigated corn. Could be better, could be worse. I'm pretty happy. I selected AH as the tech to be researched, but haven't done any simming. I won't have time to do it soon too.
Novice, in your experience, is there a tech that could potentially beat AH first in this scenario? If not, I can probably send the turn to the next player and just sim during the next only-press-enter turns. My feeling is that AH first can't be beaten. 6 yield tiles are very powerful.
Edit: The Wheel first could work if improving the corn first is best and we want to go straight into pottery after AH. I could use the worker turns to build roads and still reach the cow on time. Need to sim... Damn...

I don't think I'm going to do any simming, I think of myself more as a dedlurker than a teammate. So I can't really answer your question. I think there are alternatives to AH first that could work just as well.
Anyway, that's a really nice start. Your capital will be a monster in the late game, with 18 riverside tiles.

Help me, Obi Wan Kenovice, you are my only chance.
I know you are just dedlurking, I wouldn't ask you to do any simming. I asked what your experience/instinct tells you and I received my answer. I think I'll have to sandbox this a bit.
Any advices about how I could create a 36x36 toroidal map?
