I'd prefer if we were all connected by land also, with the possibility of naval attacks.

Everything else looks fine, though I don't really have a problem with blockades(I know, I know, just wait till I experience my first!).

the problem with blockades is - as I understand them - you can do huge damage to an opponent's coastal cities even if his naval power is equal to or greater than yours, because there aren't enough different ship types to have the same rock paper scissors game that goes on with land units. eg chariot beats axe which beats spear which beats chariot.

so if you have an enemy trireme blockading your ports, the only way to clear it out is to take a coinflip battle - there's no ship which gets bonuses against triremes.

It's also the fact that blockades cover a 7x7 area (iirc). It's huge, particularly when you consider early ships can only move 2 tiles per turn.

a modified donut map with an inner island or outer islands or both a la pitboss2 sounds really fun to me.

Unless you're playing this in RBmod, I really recommend you avoid blockades.

Yeah blockades should not be turned on. I would prefer normal speed over quick but I'm fine with it if everyone else wants it.

K, I'm fine with no blockades too. No problem with a donut map, definitely prefer quick speed for a pbem.

Okay, Quick speed, huts etc off, Krispy Kreme script with islands...I think I've gotcha. Anything else? See starts before pick or pick blind?

I have a weak preference for seeing the start.

Anyone want to guess what the single most influential setting to decide for a new game is?
