I wonder if I can found City 4 on the plains hill, then found Judaeism to pop borders? Nah, too convoluted.

I'm considering settling City 5 somewhere in the south instead:
Ximen pops third ring borders and the resulting Pigs T42. 2S of the Pigs would be a dynamite city - besides distance and the ability to share Ximen's resources, there's not much reason to settle the area between Ximen and the river. If I do decide to settle here, I'll go Monotheism before Sailing. Demos: That GNP is definitely cheesed with a 40% prereq bonus and a Holy City. Now to re-deflate my ego...

Scratch Sianic trade routes, there isn't a sea connection:
Looks like we're on the edge of a wheel and this is the spoke, or something. There's another sea route in the south, but I haven't defogged it yet. Sian came up with Writing, so I offered OB.

Bob built the Oracle:
Only Industrious builds the Oracle, not much surprise there. The good news is that Bob and Sian still only have two cities. Found Sian's lands: Awful lot of cottages... Found Stone and the Barbs: I'm guessing this path leads to a central hub with gems everywhere?

Quickly, I queued up Granaries in Ximen and Yuedao, and a Chariot in Kuanghai. Bad that the Granaries will complete just as the cities reach a new size for maximum inefficiency, but such is life. Qiming (Sea of Tears) will be settled next turn. Note to self, Cottages are 3 turns on Quick.
Quick and dirty test reveals that the limiting factor in this whole business is Worker labor, with Granaries everywhere I'm going to need more than three Workers. Kuanghai will crash into its happy cap at Size 5. Monotheism comes T48, earliest date Island city can be settled is T51 with Ximen's Galley being the limiting factor. Wondering whether to use new Workers to go vertical with Cottages or horizontal with Roads everywhere and whipping out more junk as fast as I can. Leaning towards horizontal, since seas create easily defendable chokepoints, maintanence is pretty low, and island city should help keep economy afloat. Bob's graphs came in, I'm smoking Bob and Sian in Crop Yield. Expecting the Rival Best (we're both 32) Crop Yield to be Mardoc. (Wow, my language abilities are wrecked when I'm tired.)

This sim is getting maddeningly complex; after City 6 it's probably time to shut it down. Worker labor isn't as scarce as I thought; current stab is to settle City 6 ~T57, with Ximen building the Settler. Kuanghai will have to be my short-term GP farm. It has too much food, always runs out of improved tiles to work, and still has forests to chop into a Library.

Details need ironing out, but the basic plan runs like so:
Island City: Two-pop whip Settler from Kuanghai T48, Galley completes T49, city is settled T51. Hinduism T52 courtesy of Yuedao. Complete Work Boat in Kuanghai T55 so that the Boat reaches the Fish when the borders pop T57. Pigs City: Three-pop whip Settler from Ximen T54, use overflow to polish off a Missionary. One-pop whip Worker from Yuedao, use two Workers to road to spot and pre-improve the Pigs. City settled T56, Hinduism T57. Complete WB in Yuedao T59. Kuanghai: Build cottages like the world is going to end, then whip Library. Problems to work on: Farmers gambiting like nuts, I complete a Chariot in Kuanghai but I need it to sit in Ximen for military unhappiness. Need to recall scouting Warriors. Ximen grows onto blank grassland in preparation for the 3-pop whip, eww. Crashing into happy cap, need to remember that Temples exist. (Wow, stress kills my language abilities too.)

I guess we'll have to see on the thirst. I like your quick expansion plans - where would your borders end up in an ideal world?
