[SPOILERS] Let's Make a Deal with Monte

Finished the pasture and opted to mine the riverside plains hill as opposed to construct a riverside cottage. I'll be behind on foodhammers for the foreseeable future and will rely on hooking up the goldmine to power early GNP.

Moving the scout back revealed helpful information, with the discovery of what looks like a small island and some fish. If it's an island, an early hookup for +2 routes should be prioritized, probably at the end of the plans below.

Onto other priorities, here's a preliminary dotmap. Marvel at how a grown person lacks basic artistic flair.

I'd like to claim this valley before Nakor. Blue dot is the 1st ring pigs/cows/gold/clams city. North Red dot settles on top of sugar to share pigs and gold with blue dot. This is not a great long term city, rather a jumping point to yellow dot. Alternatively, South red dot is a stronger long term city, but requires a border pop to do anything. You could argue whether such a jumping point is necessary, but proceeding directly to yellow dot seems like a big outreach. Yellow dot has first ring cows and wet corn, and 2nd ring marble.

As another alternative, ignore the red dots to proceed directly to purple dot. This has first ring hill sheep and cows. A middle of the road alternative between the early strength of sugar red dot and the long-term potential of the southern red dot. This option replaces yellow dot with black dot, which could also be placed on the east side of the river.

Both options include the obligatory Pink Dot on a hill with pigs and sheep. This is the stretch spot which may or may not be available, depending on how close Nakor is.

War Chariots
Prereq: THE_WHEEL AND State Religion
Obsolete: MONARCHY or LITERATURE or CODE_OF_LAWS or AESTHETICS or MATHEMATICS or ALPHABET or HORSEBACK_RIDING or IRON_WORKING or METAL_CASTING
Active/Weight: 25/200
Aim:
Build default number of players for this world size +1 Chariots (8 for standard)
Result:
1.All Chariot units gain the Combat 1 promotion
2.Spread your state religion to 5 own cities

Not that useful. I was a little more excited when I looked up the quest reward and initially confused the Horse Whisperer quest with this. As I recall, that quest reward gave a food bonus to stables, but I believe it's only to one stable; similar to the other quest which adds two beakers to a library, but only one library.

Edit: The quest log at civfanatics contradicts my statement, but it's irrelevant here. Dreaming on double-speed +1food stables.

Disappointing that those southern clams are in Q's third ring capital culture. He's creative; winning that tile back may be difficult in the near future. Probably prevents a city on the southern plains hill.

Some buyer's remorse for growing to size 3 and prioritizing a warrior, given that it looks like I may be on the end of a peninsula. BW comes in 3, so I am reworking micro to consider a chop and 1pop whip. This is not ideal because I will be short on worker turns to hook up the plethora of resources for the planned 2nd city.

Got graphs on Nakor and it appears that he likely finished BW a few turns ago according to the power graph.

Woodsman 2 isn't awful, I guess, but even the handful of beakers left on BW would have let me start chopping a turn early.

Looks like I have a backline already. If that's the case, I'm definitely going to push east towards Nakor.

Timing slightly off with speed of the settler, so the road wasn't in place for the settler to move directly to the forest this turn. Settle on T36. duh

Will be able to grow to size 4 in 5 turns as clams netted as cap grows to size 3.

Debate for City 3 will be for the copper in the capital's 3rd ring and 1st ring sheep of its own or moving towards Nakor.

Such a slow start. shakehead

Lurker instructions:

Please move the scout N and then NE if there is a hill/forest/jungle; if not, move N onto the forest/jungle.

Set research to AH.

Finish road with worker.

Thanks.

Contestant 1 is the grand prize winner! lol

Contestant 1 gets his first chance to leap towards unlocking HE:

Other nonsense:

AH is in next turn, GNP inflated by double prereq bonus. Horse location may influence decision to settle for copper, but otherwise, there is plenty of good, unclaimed land to speed towards.

There are so many lurker threads here and given my lack of civ skills, I don't think I could post anything here that would be all that interesting to the dedicated crowd. I imagine that anyone wouldn't come here for more than pictures.
