Turn 7

So while we wait for the scout to uncover new tiles I thought I'd do some camera flying. Looking back from the north west I think our land stops with a jungle tile 2n of the clams, so the land over the water to the east should get us overseas trade routes (I'm not totally sure that it doesn't join up in a horse-shoe to the north, but it probably doesn't). The land to the south is definitely separate though.


Looking back from the north west there's a lot of land there so that's probably where we'll end up doing most of our initial expansion before we get galleys out. Looks like it's a mixture of forest and jungle. Hopefully we can settle on the jungle. Watch out for the enormous scout!


Demos. Elkad and Donovan both finished Mining this turn. Our drop in GNP makes me think that both are starting on Bronze Working. Charriu identified Donovan as a risk for early religion but it looks like he'll go BW first. He can still beat us though if he doesn't go for fishing. Superjim was the other big risk - he should get Mysticism this turn or next if he's going straight for religion. More likely he'll get Agriculture then Mining-BW, putting us ahead by 30 beakers or so. Finally Cairo hasn't got anything yet, so is probably going for BW or Agriculture first.

Turn 10

We'll skip t8 and t9 and get on with uncovering new tiles... Gems! Also the worker is out and improving corn.

Turn 11

A few more tiles uncovered - everything to the east is coast but there's lots of land to the north. Any thoughts on dotmap and scouting moves?


Demos. OT4E grew his capital to size 2 - workboat first! Krill and Superdeath both got techs, either Agriculture and The Wheel or both Hunting. Looks like we're the only ones going BW first.

Turn 13

Turns out this land is all a bit crappy. I suspect that the highlighted tile takes us all the way back around to the north of the capital. Do we explore that way or head to the north east instead?


Demos. Gavagai and Donovan got their second techs, both had Agri/Myst to start and they've gone Fishing->Mining and Mining->Fishing respectively.


T13 sandbox. We'll know where copper is in a couple of turns, at which point we need to figure out if we're going for a second worker or straight for the settler.

Turn 15

Bronze working comes in, we adopt slavery and copper is... Nowhere useful! Now we're hoping that this map means we'll have our own happy island for the foreseeable and not have to worry about a rush, so perhaps we can wait for sailing and city 4 to settle the copper over the pond? please


Meanwhile our scout seems to have got himself into a pickle. I rate his survival chances at about 50%. I'm trying to distance myself from his poor decision making. frown


Demos - OT4E probably got Hunting - does he have some nice pigs or just want to get chariots out and ruin someone's game?

Turn 16

Our scout survives! He uncovered a bunch of new tiles too. He could wait on this hill for five turns so he's fit to move again, but in ten turns warriors will start spawning, so perhaps he should keep going? If we're going to be sharing this land with anyone they're more likely to be to the east, as the west seems to snake back close to our capital, so do we tell him to keep going?


Demos. We're the second to grow to size 2 and tied for top crop yield and MFG, meaning we're winning. Ignore the GNP. Cairo got Mining.

Turn 19

With a promo-heal our scout is fit enough to reveal some more tiles. Still no sign of OT4E though. noidea Back home we chopped into a settler and will whip a workboat into it next turn. The settler should be ready t27 and settle city 2 on t28.


Demos. Over the last three turns everyone but Superdeath and Elkad has grown to size 2. If Elkad grows but Superdeath doesn't this turn then I can figure out what techs SD and Krill got on t11.

Turn 20

Our scout keeps on going - this copper makes me think we're on OT4E's doorstep, but no sign of culture yet. (Actually given the shape of the land I suspect this is Krill's neck of the wood.) SE-SE or E-NE next?


Back home we whipped the workboat, fishing comes in eot and we'll grow back to work the clams next turn.


Demos. Land points come in, OT4E gets mining and Krill grows to size 3.

Turn 21

New plan for the scout - we'll run away to the NNE. This freshwater lake is going to be amazing for whoever lives here to lighthouse.


Demos. Donovan, Superjim and Mr Cairo were identified as our religion rivals. We've counted Donovan out because he's 30 beakers behind on his tech path if he decides to race us (due to start techs). It looks like Mr Cairo is going for BW at the moment (which puts him out of the race) but he might be on the long stretch to Poly or Meditation - if we take Myst then we should see which he's gone for before we have to choose ourselves. Finally Superjim is almost certainly on the BW path, which puts him behind us on religious beakers as well. So I think we're a lock for one of the two religions. please Mysticism next!

Turn 22

Our neighbour is indeed Krill. Nice that it isn't OT4E, but Krill is, if anything, worse. So do we make contact next turn or run away? That panther is following us, so doubling back isn't really an option.


Demos. Elkad is the first of our rivals to get Bronze Working.
