[SPOILERS] DaveV and Kandros Fir sing songs about money

Another barb warrior, a flawless win. My warrior is now at 11/10 XP, so another promotion is available.

More interesting is that barb city, a mere 5 tiles north of my capital. Fortunately, it doesn't interfere with my dotmap, and it's on flatland so I have a good chance to capture it eventually. Barbs hardly ever settle resourceless cities, so there may be something good in the fog. Edit: never mind, it already has pigs. So maybe what I see is what I get.

New map type guess after some more messing around: Rain Forest. That script tends to produce huge swaths of mountains and deserts, so Bob would have had to do a lot of editing to even it out for everyone.

I've built my third city, right where I planned it. Watch out, barbs, my words are backed by BRONZE WEAPONS!

Still my all-time favorite album. This song actually received a fair amount of radio play back in the 70s, and I grew tired of it as a consequence. But enough time has passed that I can enjoy it again.

I decided to kill the goblin with an unpromoted warrior, which should give me enough for another guy with the shock promotion:

He survived with 3.0/4 HP and the  expected 2 XP.

I'm still killing barbs, and still gaining 2XP.

I'm also still languishing at the bottom of the scoreboard, and demos look terrible:

But I'll finish the plantations on turn 57, and can also crank up the merchant economy (although poor Pink Floyd will have a tough time completing even a 20 hammer building). Time will tell whether I'm already too far behind the curve to catch up.

Here's a screenie from after I ended turn. Note Mr. Cairo's scout in the upper left corner.

Now that I have contact with two other players, it's time for a screen dump:

Cairo and Auro haven't met each other yet.

Cairo is apparently also going with a musical theme.

They're both in God King, which means they're working on the Mysticism path: Cairo most likely is going for FoL and Auro for KotE. God King can give an early game boost, but it's not a long term solution because of maintenance issues. Cairo just switched to Pacificism and is probably trying to bulb Priesthood.

I'm *way* behind on growth. Did all the other guys have non-jungled happy resources? My -1 happy from dwarven vaults doesn't account for the massive difference in city sizes.

I'll skip the demos screen, since not much has changed since I last showed it. Here's a graph dump:

Ouch.

Ouch again, although this is probably mostly God King bonus hammers.

Turn 62 opened with an offer of a map trade from Aurorarcher. I accepted, since I figured he's done more exploring than I have, which turned out to be the case.

No pastures, no camps, some unchopped jungle, but he does have a cottage, some mines, and several plantations.

Note Cairo's borders 4 tiles north of Pink Floyd.

But wait, let's take a closer look at Auro's capital:

That's an elder council, a mage's guild, and a planar gate. Respect.

So, did he trade maps so he could plan the invasion route for his mobius witches, or is he trying to be friends? The former doesn't really seem to be his style, and my magic resistant bronze warriors are probably the least attractive target for his summons and zombies. For now, we'll stay at Cautious.

Oh, and it looks like Auro had FOUR happy resources very early, without having to hack his way through jungle. Grumble, grumble.

I'm too relaxed on a Caribbean island to generate the appropriate amount of rage against the map-maker I'm afraid. Still, those graphs don't look too bad to me. And at least your event fund is actually doing something while it sits there - I don't know if the other players are running one, but for them it's pure opportunity cost until the RNG smiles on them ...

Auro is very ... focused ... though. But I'd hope that the metagame in this one is "let's not let Mack get so far ahead this time".
It may have looked easy, but that is because it was done correctly - Brian Moore
