Civ AI Survivor: Season Five

The talkers are way harsher on Musa than the voters, looks like.

That's true to a certain extent but keep in mind that I only pick out a portion of the comments to highlight and I try to get as many different viewpoints as possible. I think we had about 45 comments thus far and something like 30-35 of them were saying that Mansa would win. lol

I wonder how many will make the wild card round this year?

Rolled a OCC inspired by the latest sullla video. Mansa and Zara showed up and they danced *circles* around a group of more mediocre AIs like Louise and Toku. I feel like this is a sign for the upcoming game. Mansa spaceship turn 260. I know Zara has disappointed again and again since S1, but MAN that guy can expand and he was ahead in score though behind in tech to Mansa. Mansa actually got super cramped because he was on a peninsula with me (MASSIVE culture) and Zara (MASSIVE expansion) and he was still the tech leader by far other than me.

"Cramped by you" is another way of saying "protected by you".

It was a weird stringy map, so I was actually protected by him. It was the ocean, then me, then Mansa, then Zara. I guess he had a protected side, but really I was just crushing half his cities with my culture.

I’ve reread the new personality summaries. Bismarck’s main problem, I agree, is wonderbuilding, which is largely suboptimal with AI survivor parameters, especially for someone with a relatively high peace weight. Still, if these competitions go on for long enough, he’ll probably win eventually, just like other AIs.

The AI that would take the most games to eventually stumble into victory, is, I think, Sitting Bull.

Sitting Bull's chances at a victory are bad, but his opportunity is pretty clear cut. Someone with a low peace weight will declare on him super early, get smashed by his godly archers, and then he counter attacks with his large build unit preference to an early lead.

I'm just waiting for that Monty win, which is just about as unlikely. Of course Monty can get an early victory against someone like Ghandi and start to snowball, but he's just so likely to throw that away attacking into whatever brick wall ally he backstabs. On the topic of paths to victory, I wonder how much extra bonus yield a weak AI would need at the capital as a handicap to win against a tougher field. Even incompetent Monty with an extra 3fpt, 5hpt, and 10cpt from T0 has to be in a dominating position, right?

I think it depends on which weak AI you help. Monty with that kind of bonus would snowball like crazy, but Sitting Bull could very plausibly just build a bunch of units and not use them, still getting out-teched long term. Bismark/Fred might be somewhere in the middle, etc
